Scope of work
Vital Strategies is seeking a short-term consultancy contract based in Jaipur and Chandigarh to support the implementation and coordination of road safety initiatives in collaboration with government stakeholders, police departments, and partner organizations. The consultant will work closely with embedded staff, senior government officials, and initiative partners to support program execution, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and coordination activities aimed at reducing road deaths and strengthening road safety systems.
The consultant will support day-to-day program operations, coordination with government counterparts, facilitation of meetings and agreements, tracking of progress, and timely reporting and communication across stakeholders. The role requires strong project management, government engagement, and coordination skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
This is a short-term consultancy contract based in Jaipur and Chandigarh, requiring regular coordination with government and partner agencies, flexibility to travel locally as needed, and close collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Further extension of the contract will be subject to project requirements and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities :
• Support a team of 3–5 road safety embedded staff in the location
• Coordinate with partner governments and help resolve implementation challenges
• Support development and signing of collaboration agreements, MOUs, and related administrative/financial arrangements
• Monitor program activities and flag issues in a timely manner
• Support regular reporting on program progress and results
• Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials on road safety initiatives
• Coordinate day-to-day with team members to support execution of work plans within timelines and budgets
• Support communication with senior government officials, Vital Strategies, and partners
• Support data collection and documentation required for implementation
• Organize meetings, workshops, and engagement activities (virtual and in-person)
• Represent the organization in meetings and relevant forums as required
• Keep the team informed of relevant local developments affecting the initiative
• Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation
• Any other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Management, Development Studies, Engineering, or related field preferred
Languages:
• Proficiency in English, Hindi, and local language(s)
Skills and Abilities –
• Strong ability to engage with government and police stakeholders
• Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder programs
• Understanding of public health approach to road injury prevention
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and environments
• Commitment to inclusive and collaborative working practices
Experience:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in public health, project development, or program management
• Experience supporting or leading complex programs or projects
• Prior experience working closely with government stakeholders
