Background
JSI R&T India Foundation (JSI Foundation) is a not-for-profit organization, registered in 2014 under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013. The mission of the JSI Foundation is to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable communities through innovative, evidence informed and replicable strategies in partnership with government, private sector and civil society. JSI Foundation works closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Women and Child Development, as well as state counterparts, leading CSR companies, and Global Fund to implement context specific and comprehensive public health programs in India.
Job Summary
The Finance Officer will be responsible for accurately receiving, reviewing, and recording all financial transactions in the official financial ERP system (Tally). This position requires accountability for ensuring that all authorized entries are made in accordance with the relevant policy, while maintaining the integrity of financial records at all times. A strong understanding of the Companies Act, particularly Section 8, and the frameworks for not-for-profit organizations is essential.
Responsibilities
- Before entering transactions into the accounting system (ERP/Tally), it is essential to verify that all approvals and documentation are in accordance with the organization's policy.
- Please ensure that any falsified or incorrect claims are immediately reported to your direct supervisor before entering the voucher into the system.
- Process all transactions in the books of accounts, resulting in the payable booking. Like travel claims reimbursement, vendor payments, and consultant payments
- Process all transactions in a timely and accurate manner, and maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts, including GL, Cost Centre, etc.
- Ensured that all vouchers are printed and signed after being entered into TALLY. Additionally, made sure that the supervisor reviews and approves the voucher before it is submitted for final filing.
- Please ensure that all compliance requirements, including the deduction of TDS, Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM), and GST input credit, are properly documented in accordance with Indian statutory regulations before processing any payments.
- Please ensure that the narration in the vouchers fully captures the transaction details, avoiding any duplication or copy-pasting. Include as much information as possible.
- Please prepare a bank reconciliation statement for all accounts on a monthly basis.
- Be accountable for any unauthorized alterations in the ERP, including information alteration or back-dated entries.
- Prepare TDS statement and any compliance-related issues, and share with the Assistant Manager Compliance
- Review ledgers from time to time to ensure that all GL entries are tied to cost centers and prepare a monthly reconciliation of GL and cost center
- Support the grant team for new projects and project closures and ensure that all expenses are booked before the project's start date to avoid any disallowance from the donor
- Work under close supervision to coordinate with Banks.
Responsibility and Accountability
- Be accountable for all entries in financial ERP.
- Be accountable for any incorrect entries
- Be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable function
- Be responsible for correct GL and Cost Center selections.
- Be responsible for recording all transactions other than payables in the system.
- Responsible for providing the first level of review of the accountant's work.
- Responsible for complete transparency in financial operations and act as the first port of call for red-flagging exceptions.

Qualifications and Skills
- Post Graduate/ Graduate (commerce).
- Minimum 5-6 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent skills in operating the financial ERP (Tally)
- Working knowledge of statutory requirements related to Direct and Indirect taxes.
- Excellent command over all applications of MS Office
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Hindi/English
- Preferred experience of managing the accounting of a CSR or UN, organisation
