Background of Organization:
‘Kalike’ - an Associate Organization of TATA Trusts to work as the nodal agency for KSU. ‘Kalike’ strives to facilitate deep, large scale and long-term impact on the quality of life through interventions in education and livelihoods in Yadgir and neighbouring districts in northern Karnataka, along with related development areas such as child health and nutrition. Under its long-term vision as an institution, by converging with other portfolios of the Kalike and various government departments and Non-Profit Organizations (NPO), Kalike seeks to address these inter-related domains, while keeping Education as a core area of focus. Currently, Kalike has been focusing on ensuring quality education to the rural and deprived children in Yadgir & Koppal district, Karnataka, The initiative plans to make long-term investments towards improving the quality of education, ranging from pre-school to high school education, health, livelihood, and skill development, as part of an end-to-end approach over a period. It is hoping that such focused engagement would: (a) have a visible impact on the quality of life for most deprived communities; and (b) provide insights in systemic reform which will have the potential to inform the policy.

JOB DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM HEAD– EDUCATION

Position Purpose:
As a Program Head- Education, the incumbent is expected to lead and deliver Education interventions in the areas of operation of the organisation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Assist Program/Executive Director in designing, planning and timely execution of Primary and Secondary Education interventions initiated by organization.
• Lead the ‘School Education’ and ‘Library Program’ in designing, implementation, and evaluation
• Provide support to the implementation team through regular mentoring & supervision and monitoring of the programme.
• Managing and facilitating with partners and donors through appropriate updates and build the relationship for smooth implementation of education interventions.
• Closely work with key stakeholders including DIETs/DDPI Office/BEOs/BRCs and state officials for effective implementation of planned interventions and ensure their participation.
• Develop robust practice for teachers to adopt and improve classroom teaching learning process in elementary schools.
• Build the capacity of program team and NGO functionaries to adopt and practice the innovation in education sector.
• Prepare and share monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual field reports in coordination with Program Director.
• Plan, design, organise and conduct trainings/workshops/capacity building programmes and mentoring support to teachers, Animators/Volunteers, Internal Program team members / in-charge GP Librarian.
• Carry out school/village visits to oversee the implementation of activities in school and community level.
• Facilitate meaningful partnership with State/district administration & education department (Schools, Anganwadi Centres, SDMCs, Schools and Gram Panchayats) for Primary and Secondary Education work in schools and community.
• Carry out joint visits with Education Department officials / functionaries (BRCs/BEOs/DDPIs) for the effective and smooth implementation of Primary and Secondary Education interventions.
• Undertake documentation of project activities (outputs and outcomes) in the form of reports, case studies, photos and videos.
• Ensuring timely submission/update and followed accurate Management Information System (MIS) in Primary and Secondary Education in coordination with field team.
• Undertake any other responsibilities that management may entrust upon you.
Essential Skills:
• Written and verbal communication skills in English, Kannada and Tamil language.
• Report writing and effective use of MIS office.
• Orientation to National Education Policy 2020 & Right to Education (RTE) Act with special reference to Foundational Learning (Foundational Literacy & Numeracy) and Learning theories.
• Facilitation skills to conduct training and capacity building workshops.
• Computer proficiency and basic skills to design reports
Educational Qualification & Experience Any master’s degree (Arts/Science/Social) along with Bachelor /Master of Education (B.Ed/M.Ed/Ph.D.) with at least 12 to 15 years of experience in relevant/education sector field work.
