1. Background:
YuWaah (Generation Unlimited/GenU) is a UN ORGANISATION-initiated multi-stakeholder global platform, that aims to prepare young people to transition from education and learning to productive work and active citizenship. YuWaah is working to focus on engagement, learning, skill development and employment of young people. Envisaged as a strategic, long-term initiative, YuWaah will serve as the much-needed bridge between solution providers, private sector, Government of India, academia, and civil society organizations to fund and scale-up innovative and effective solutions. By 2030, in India, YuWaah aims to partner with 300 million young people as change-makers and create spaces for developing their leadership.
The Government of India’s launch of Mera Yuva Bharat (MyBharat) in 2023 marked a major step in creating a structured, technology-enabled youth engagement ecosystem. With 1.8 crore registered young users, MyBharat is already enabling volunteer participation in flagship campaigns on climate action, health, sanitation, education, and beyond. The platform’s stated mission - to drive social mobility, educational equity, and practical skills - makes it a natural hub for integrating youth service into India’s development pathways. International Year of Volunteering 2026 offers the perfect moment to converge these dispersed efforts onto MyBharat, making it the national one-stop portal for volunteer opportunities. This unified, skills-linked approach will position India as a global leader in leveraging youth service for sustainable development, skills growth, and social transformation.
