Job Description: Community Mobiliser (Disaster Management Programme)

Position Title: Community Mobiliser
Programme: Disaster Management and Resilience Building Programme
Location: Puri District
Reports To: Project Coordinator/Programme Manager

Purpose of the Position

The Community Mobiliser is responsible for engaging, organizing, and strengthening communities to enhance their preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience to disasters. The position focuses on community participation, awareness generation, capacity building, and coordination with local stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of disaster management activities.

Key Responsibilities
1. Community Mobilization and Awareness
Mobilize community members to actively participate in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and disaster management initiatives.
Conduct awareness campaigns, community meetings, and information sessions on disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery.
Promote community ownership of disaster management activities.
Facilitate inclusion of vulnerable groups, including women, children, elderly persons, and persons with disabilities, in programme activities.
2. Capacity Building
Organize and facilitate training programmes on disaster preparedness, first aid, search and rescue, early warning systems, and emergency response.
Support the formation and strengthening of Village Disaster Management Committees (VDMCs) and Community-Based Disaster Management Committees (CBDMCs).
Assist communities in developing and updating disaster preparedness and contingency plans.
Support preparation of village disaster management plans and risk maps.
3. Programme Implementation
Assist in implementing project activities according to approved work plans and timelines.
Ensure proper documentation of field activities and beneficiary records.

Required Qualifications
1.Bachelor's degree in any stream.
2.Minimum 1-3 years of experience in community development, disaster management, humanitarian response, or related programmes.
3.Strong community mobilization and facilitation skills.
4.Good communication and interpersonal skills..
5.Ability to travel extensively within project areas and own vehicle.

Remuneration: 10,000/- per month.

Nature of Engagement: contractual in nature.
