Program Manager – Rural Media Fellowship 2026

Location: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
Employment Type: Full-time
Duration: 12 months (extendable based on programme growth and performance)
Compensation: INR 40,000–50,000 per month

About the Rural Media Fellowship
The Rural Media Fellowship is a 12-month intensive media training programme designed to equip young rural women (aged 18–25) in Uttar Pradesh with skills in storytelling, digital media, communication, and civic engagement.
The programme aims to enable rural young women to emerge as community storytellers, content creators, and media entrepreneurs while building pathways to sustainable livelihoods and greater civic participation.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial, and highly organized Program Manager to lead the implementation of the Rural Media Fellowship in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
This role is ideal for someone who deeply believes in the power of storytelling, youth leadership, and grassroots media to drive social change. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working at the intersection of media, social justice, and skilling, while also understanding the local social and cultural context of Varanasi and surrounding rural communities.
The Program Manager will play a central role in fellow training, programme coordination, community engagement, and overall implementation of the Fellowship.



Key Responsibilities
1. Fellow Training & Capacity Building
Lead and facilitate training sessions for Fellows in
Media production and storytelling
Digital content creation
Workplace Readiness
Civic education and community engagement
Create safe, participatory, and engaging learning environments for rural young women
Mentor Fellows throughout the programme journey and support their creative growth
2. Programme Management & Coordination
Lead day-to-day implementation of the Rural Media Fellowship
Manage programme timelines, schedules, logistics, and operations
Ensure smooth communication between Fellows, trainers, community partners, and the leadership team
Track programme milestones and ensure timely delivery of outputs
3. Community Engagement & Outreach
Build strong relationships with Fellows, families, and community stakeholders
Facilitate local outreach, screenings, and community events
Ensure high levels of fellow participation and retention
4. Media & Production Support
Coordinate logistics for shoots, productions, and storytelling projects
Support Fellows in using media equipment and production resources
Assist in managing the Community Media Lab and creative learning spaces
Support documentation and archiving of programme content
5. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation
Maintain programme records, attendance, and activity documentation
Support Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) processes
Prepare regular programme updates and reports
Capture stories, testimonials, and impact narratives from the field
Desired Qualifications & Experience
3–5 years of work experience in programme management, training, youth engagement, education, media, or community development
Academic or professional background in Media and Communications
Strong facilitation and training skills
Strong understanding of rural/community contexts, particularly in Uttar Pradesh
Fluency in Hindi and English required
