Lok Chetna Manch (LCM) is a registered non-profit organisation that has been working in the Himalayan region since 1982, promoting environmental conservation, sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, and community empowerment. Over the past four decades, LCM has partnered with several national and international government and non-government organisations to implement development initiatives that address the socio-economic and environmental challenges faced by rural communities.
LCM invites applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the following position:
Position: Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure overall financial management of the project in accordance with the financial policies of the organisation and donor guidelines.
• Maintain and organise all financial records in both physical and digital formats.
• Scrutinise bills, vouchers, and supporting documents, ensuring that expenditures are properly supported and linked with approved project activities before payment.
• Maintain complete financial records for internal and external audits and facilitate audit processes.
• Assist the Finance Committee and the CEO in procurement processes, ensuring compliance with organisational procurement policies.
• Maintain project accounts using Tally and ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, cash books, and ledgers.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, utilisation certificates, donor financial reports, and respond to financial queries from donor agencies.
• Ensure timely compliance with statutory requirements, including Income Tax, TDS (where applicable), EPF/ESI, FCRA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Assist the Senior Account Officer and project team in maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
• Coordinate with programme and reporting teams to ensure proper financial documentation of ongoing and proposed project activities.
• Undertake any other finance and administrative responsibilities assigned by the organisation.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Graduate in Commerce (B.Com.) from a recognised university. A postgraduate qualification in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably with a non-profit organisation, development agency, or institution handling donor-funded projects.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and statutory compliances.
• Proficiency in Tally, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
Remuneration:
• Up to Rs.30,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
• Travel and other admissible expenses will be reimbursed as per project norms.
Duration:
Two years (extendable based on project requirements and performance).
Place of Posting:
Ranikhet, Uttarakhand (Posting may be changed based on project requirements.)
