Summary of Responsibilities:
To provide technical leadership for development and integration of nutrition guidance for CLHIV, strengthen inter-sectoral convergence, and support implementation of nutrition interventions. The Consultant will be based in the New Delhi Office of Alliance India the provision of visit to NACO and other programme implementing states across the States. Reporting to Director: Programmes in Alliance India, the consultant will closely coordinate with NACO, Ministry/Department of Women and Child Development, ICDS, SACS, Paediatric ART Centres/Centres of Excellence and development partners and community organisations.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with NACO, WCD and ICDS for convergence of nutrition services for CLHIV.
- Assess nutritional needs and gaps among Children Living with HIV (CLHIV).
- Develop a national nutrition framework and operational guidance for CLHIV.
- Draft/revise nutrition guidelines, SOPs and counselling tools aligned with national policies.
- Develop training curricula, facilitator guides, presentations and job aids for healthcare workers, counsellors and frontline staff.
- Support integration of nutrition assessment, counselling and supplementation into paediatric HIV services.
- Review evidence and recommend nutrition packages across age groups and clinical conditions.
- Support pilot implementation and monitoring of nutrition interventions.
- Conduct consultations, workshops and stakeholder meetings.
- Develop monitoring indicators and reporting formats.
- Prepare technical reports, policy briefs and presentations.
- Undertake any other technical assignment related to paediatric HIV nutrition.
- Perform any other responsibilities assigned by Alliance India.
- Prepare field visit reports, monthly progress updates, implementation summaries and other programme documentation, and
- Undertake other responsibilities not outlined above, which are commensurate with a role of this nature in the not-for-profit sector, which has been discussed and agreed upon between the line manager and the post holder.
Deliverables:
- Situational assessment report on nutrition needs of CLHIV
- National nutrition guidelines/SOPs for CLHIV
- Training package (PPTs, facilitator guide, participant handbook)
- Nutrition counselling materials and IEC resources
- Monitoring framework and indicators
- Monthly progress reports and final technical reports
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- BSc Nutrition with Master's in Public Health, Nutrition or related field.
- MSc Clinical Nutrition or equivalent and/or PhD in nutrition.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years in public health/nutrition
- At least 3 years working in HIV, maternal-child health or nutrition programmes.
- Experience coordinating with government programmes, especially NACO and WCD/ICDS.
Skills
- Strong technical writing and guideline development.
- Proven experience in training material development and facilitation.
- Demonstrated experience in Stakeholder coordination and management.
- Excellent Data analysis and report writing skills.
- Excellent communication and MS Office skills.
The position requires a strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and Sexual and Reproductive health and civil society initiatives in India and a demonstrated interest in engaging with relevant issues.
