Through technical assistance, capacity building, research, advocacy, knowledge management, and programme implementation, SAATHII supports national and state priorities to improve health outcomes and reduce inequities.
About Project: SAATHII is implementing an integrated malaria and dengue prevention and control project across seven high-burden geographies in Maharashtra, including the districts of Gadchiroli, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Palghar, and the Municipal Corporations of Brihanmumbai (BMC), Thane, and Kalyan-Dombivli. The project aims to reduce malaria and dengue-related morbidity and mortality by strengthening disease surveillance, early diagnosis, case management, integrated vector management, community engagement, and health system capacities. The intervention is aligned with the National Framework for Malaria Elimination (NFME), the National Strategic Plan for Integrated Vector Management (2024–2030), and the Maharashtra State Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, supporting evidence-based, sustainable, and community-centred approaches to accelerate malaria elimination and strengthen dengue prevention and control.
Roles and responsibilities:
1. Managing day-to-day finance and administrative functions of the project, ensuring smooth operational support to programme teams
2. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date books of accounts in line with organizational systems and donor requirements
3. Ensuring proper documentation, filing, and secure maintenance of financial records (both physical and digital) for audit readiness
4. Preparing periodic financial reports, expenditure statements, MIS, forecasts, and variance analyses to support financial monitoring and decision-making
5. Reviewing and verifying project expenditures and supporting documents to ensure compliance with approved budgets, policies, and donor guidelines
6. Supporting the timely processing of payments, advances, and settlements in accordance with internal control procedures and in coordination with the central team located in Chennai
7. Review and coordinate monthly payroll processing for project staff in collaboration with the Human Resources team, ensuring timely salary disbursement and statutory compliance.
8. Monitor project fund flow, budget utilization, cash balances, fund utilisation rates, and expenditure trends, and proactively notify project leadership of potential funding gaps, budget variances, or financial risks.
9. Provide financial support for procurement processes, contract management, inventory reconciliation, asset management, and other administrative functions in accordance with organizational systems.
10. Ensure compliance with organizational finance, administration, procurement, human resource policies, donor regulations, and internal control systems to minimize financial and operational risks.
11. Assist and take up the various routine accounting, administration and HR related functions of the project
12. Assisting in financial reconciliations and coordination with the National Finance Manager for reporting and audit requirements
13. Ensuring strict adherence to all donor and statutory compliances and organizational policies and systems
14. Supporting, managing and coordinating various audits and donor reviews on an ongoing basis.
15. Participate in periodic reviews (administrative and programme-finance) of the project and share financial data analysis for decision making
16. Undertake any other activities as required by the organization and assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and skills:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline. Candidates possessing professional qualifications such as Cost and Management Accountant (CMA), or MBA (Finance) will be given additional preference.
2. Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in financial management, accounting, grants administration, and compliance within the non-profit/development sector. Experience managing donor-funded projects, particularly in public health programmes, will be an advantage.
3. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in accounting and financial management systems, including proficiency in Tally ERP/Tally Prime and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
4. Demonstrated experience in liaising with donors, auditors, statutory authorities, banks, and other stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with donor regulations, statutory requirements, organizational policies, and financial procedures.
5. Proven analytical and financial management skills, including preparation of budgets, financial reports, variance analyses, cash flow projections, utilization reports, and other management information required by donors and organizational leadership.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Hindi and proficiency in Marathi will be an added advantage.
7. Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and effectively engage with stakeholders across national, state, and district levels in a multicultural setting.
9. Willingness to undertake periodic travel to project states and field locations as required.
Remuneration: Salary will be commensurate with skills, qualifications, years ‘of experience, and current pay scale.
