Project Brief:
PHFI in collaboration with Government of Sikkim is implementing the project “Co develop, Implement and Evaluate a sustainable model for cancer prevention in Sikkim”. The core objective of the project is to co-develop, implement, and evaluate a statewide, evidence-based cancer prevention and early detection program that integrates life skills-based school interventions, behavior change campaigns in colleges, and community outreach activities to effectively promote healthy behaviors, enhance cancer literacy, and reduce modifiable cancer risk factors among school going adolescents, college youth, and communities in Sikkim.
Job Summary:
The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing project finances, including budget preparation, monitoring, forecasting, and reconciliation. The role involves overseeing financial transactions, preparing grant proposals and financial reports, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
Deliverables:
Key responsibilities include:
• Manage day-to-day financial operations of the study, including processing payments, reimbursements, advances, settlements, and other approved project transactions in line with PHFI and DHR/ICMR procedures.
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and budget heads, and support timely corrective action to avoid overspending or underutilization.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, utilization summaries, and other financial reports required for project and submission to Government of Sikkim.
• Maintain complete and accurate financial records, vouchers, invoices, bills, receipts, ledgers, and supporting documents for all study-related transactions.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor for the project/Division, as required.
Qualification:
Essential:
• Three Years Graduate in relevant subject/field.
Desirable:
• Post Graduate in relevant subject/field.
• For Engineering/IT/CS-First Class Four Years Graduate Degree + Three years’ experience.
Experience:
Essential:
• Around 03-04 Years of experience.
• Proven experience in accounting.
• Experience in developing and updating processes and procedures related to finance functions.
• Assist in the annual audit processes for organizational and project audits.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong skills in Excel, including data organization, analysis, and reporting.
Desirable:
• Proven experience in accounting, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
