Associate, Partnership and Fundraising
Pratham Education Foundation, Learn Out of the Box
Supporting the fundraising unit for the Learn Out of the Box program in Pratham Education Foundation by generating leads, building the funding pipeline, researching opportunities, and supporting the resource mobilization efforts across government bodies, private donors, corporate CSR partners and other partners.
About Pratham
Pratham is an innovative learning organisation created to improve the quality of education in India. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in Mumbai, Pratham has grown in both scope and scale, with programs today reaching children and youth across the country. As one of the largest non governmental organisations in the country, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Working directly with children and youth as well as through large-scale collaborations with government systems, Pratham programs reach millions of lives every year. Pratham’s Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach has demonstrated proven impact on children’s learning outcomes and is now being adapted to contexts outside India.
Program Summary
Learn Out of the Box is focused on strengthening teaching and learning across India's education system. The program works primarily on capacity building of teachers in government, government-aided, and private schools, while also engaging directly with students and with student-teachers at DIETs. The program has developed solutions that help integrate technology into classroom practice, build competencies, and shift classrooms towards student-centred approaches to learning. The program engages with the government at multiple levels, from large-scale state-wide program implementations to focused, block-level interventions designed for specific contexts and needs. The program implements multiple projects, targeting distinct intervention areas in collaboration with partner institutions. To deepen and scale its reach, Learn Out of the Box has established a dedicated fundraising unit, led by the Senior Manager, Fundraising & Partnerships. This unit is responsible for systematically mobilising resources from government bodies, individual and institutional private donors, corporate CSR partners and other sources.
Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented fundraising professional to support the fundraising function for Learn Out of the Box. Reporting to the Lead, Partnership and Fundraising, this individual will drive the top of the fundraising funnel — identifying opportunities, generating leads, building and maintaining a robust pipeline of prospects, and supporting proposal development across government, private, and CSR channels. The role is central to ensuring the fundraising unit always has a healthy, well-researched pipeline to convert into funding commitments. This role is suited for someone who is energetic, organised, and comfortable with outbound outreach — including cold calling and cold emailing — as well as structured research to track funding opportunities such as RFPs, tenders, EOIs, and CSR/grant announcements.
Mindset Required
This role demands persistence, curiosity, and a genuine comfort with outbound, first-contact conversations. The incumbent will need to consistently research, reach out, follow up, and organise information so that the fundraising unit always has visibility into upcoming opportunities and warm prospects. Attention to detail in tracking and documentation is critical, as is the ability to represent Pratham and Learn Out of the Box professionally in every initial interaction with a prospective funder or partner.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead generation and prospecting: Identify and generate new leads across government bodies, private donors, foundations, and corporate CSR departments through research, networking, and outbound outreach.
• Cold calling and cold outreach: Conduct cold calls and cold emails to prospective donors, CSR heads, and institutional contacts to introduce Learn Out of the Box, gauge interest, and set up further conversations for the fundraising team.
• RFP, tender and EOI tracking: Proactively search for and track relevant RFPs, tenders, Expressions of Interest, and grant/CSR calls from government departments, foundations, and corporates; flag time-sensitive opportunities to the team.
• Pipeline building and management: Build and maintain an organised, up-to-date pipeline of prospects and opportunities across all funding streams, with clear status tracking from lead to conversion.
• Prospect research: Research potential funders (government schemes, foundations, corporates) to understand their priorities, funding cycles, and application requirements, and share concise briefs with the fundraising team.
• Support proposal and concept note development: Assist in drafting, formatting, and compiling proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest, and ensure timely submission of required documents.
• Database and CRM management: Maintain accurate and updated records of leads, prospects, conversations, and follow-ups in trackers or CRM tools; generate regular pipeline reports for the
Lead, Partnership and Fundraising.
• Follow-ups and relationship coordination: Conduct timely follow-ups with prospects and support scheduling and coordination of meetings between prospective funders and Pratham’s leadership team.
• Collaborate across the program: Work closely with the Lead, Partnership and Fundraising, and relevant program teams, to gather data, background material, and inputs required for outreach and proposals.
• Any other activities as per the requirements of the program.
Required Skills and Experience
• 2-4 years of experience in fundraising, business development, sales, lead generation, or a related outbound/relationship-driven role; experience in the development sector is an advantage but not mandatory
• Demonstrated comfort with cold calling, cold emailing, and other forms of outbound outreach, with the confidence to have first conversations with senior stakeholders
• Strong research skills, with the ability to identify and track relevant RFPs, tenders, and funding opportunities from multiple sources
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, professional outreach emails and support proposal writing
• Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage and update a pipeline or tracker
• A degree in management, communications, or a related field
• Comfortable working with MS Office/Google Workspace tools; familiarity with CRM or database tools is a plus
• Self-motivated and target-oriented, with the resilience to handle rejection and persist with follow ups
Reporting
The Associate, Partnership and Fundraising, will report to the Lead, Partnership and Fundraising. The Lead will provide guidance on prioritization of leads and opportunities, review pipeline progress regularly, and support the Associate in developing outreach and research skills.
