SCOPE OF WORK
 
Position: Community Health Associate (FTC)
Reporting to: Senior Manager – Programme Impact & Learning

Location: Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu
Education: Graduation in any stream / Social work will be an advantage
Work experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in Community Development.

Poverty is a cause and effect of visual and other disabilities that in-turn increase social divide. Eradicating blindness, 70% of which is avoidable, will enhance productivity, significantly impact on GDP and promote social and economic equity among nations. MFV’s vision is to restore the gift of vision to every visually impaired human being, irrespective of nationality, religion or socio-economic status. Among the largest NGOs engaged in eye health care, MFV has helped establish and strengthen several centres, enabling them to grow into world class centres providing comprehensive eye health care and also engaged in high quality training and research. All these organisations are able to address the key blinding conditions that affect the world, especially cataract, glaucoma, child eye health, corneal conditions, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders, etc.
 
Currently, MFV collaborates with 29 leading eye care organizations to serve communities across more than 220+ districts in 25 states and Union Territories of India. In the fiscal year 2025-26, MFV facilitated direct eye services for over 2,099,521 individuals, with more than 362,444 of them receiving free surgeries, primarily for cataracts.
 
Job Purpose
The primary expectation from the role of Community Health Associate (Fixed Term Contract) is to render support implementation of the programmes via organising eye screening camps in Tiruvannamalai District of Tamil Nadu. The person will create and maintain all relevant data and information relating to the camps and patients conducted.
 
The Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, local authorities, NGOs, and camp organisers.
  • Plan and organise eye screening camps as per the approved schedule.
  • Organise transportation of patients to the hospital in coordination with the hospital team.
  • Undertake village-level publicity through door-to-door visits and auto announcements to create awareness about the camps.
  • Ensure smooth management of screening camps.
  • Maintain patient records, camp documentation, and reporting forms.
  • Counsel patients on treatment, surgery, and spectacles.
  • Follow up with patients to ensure they receive the required services.
  • Maintain records of camp expenses and submit reports on time.
  • Submit weekly and monthly activity reports and prepare case stories as required.
Skills Required
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with community members and patients.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community leaders and local stakeholders.
  • Basic organisational and coordination skills for planning and conducting screening camps.
  • Ability to maintain records accurately and submit reports on time.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned area.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Salary
Rs 25,000 - Rs 30,000 based on qualification and experience.
 
Language Proficiency 
Tamil speaking required and Basic English writing.
 
Computer Proficiency

Computer literacy is essential.
