Kanchan Seva Ashram, a non-governmental organization established in 1994, has been instrumental in bringing positive change to the lives of countless people, particularly rural and urban women, ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), marginalized communities, farmers, and youth.

We are inviting applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Agriculture Executive.

Location: Kalyanpur Block, Samastipur, Bihar

Number of Positions: 01 (One)

Salary: 10,000 – 15,000 per month (Negotiable, based on qualification and relevant experience).

Position- Agriculture Executive
Role Overview -
The Agriculture Executive is a key field-level professional responsible for planning, implementing, demonstrating, and monitoring climate-resilient and nutrition-sensitive agriculture interventions in the project area and contributing to Heifer India's strategy of building sustainable and inclusive food systems. S/he works closely with FFSs, farmer Producer Organizations, government departments, KVKs, and other stakeholders to strengthen sustainable livelihoods, improve food and nutrition security, and enhance climate resilience through improved agricultural practices.
Key Roles and Responsibilities-
• Support the Project Coordinator and Program Officer-Agriculture in planning and implementing agriculture interventions as per the approved project plan.
• Facilitate the establishment and promotion of Nutri Kitchen Garden (NKG) 2.0 Models at household and community levels to improve year-round nutrition security.
• Establish and demonstrate Trellis/Machan Farming Models for efficient cultivation of climber vegetables and improved land use efficiency.
• Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of Bio Resource Centres (BRCs) for promoting locally available bio-inputs, organic formulations, and sustainable agriculture practices.
• Plan and conduct High Value Crop Demonstrations incorporating Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to improve productivity, reduce production costs, and minimize chemical pesticide use.
• Facilitate Climate-Resilient Wheat Seed Production using improved varieties and support farmers in quality seed production, seed treatment, and post-harvest management.
• Promote and facilitate the establishment and management of Community Seed Banks to improve access to quality seeds and strengthen local seed systems.
• Establish demonstrations on Fodder Plantation on Bunds and promote climate-resilient fodder production for improved livestock nutrition and integrated farming systems.
• Organize and facilitate Farmer Field Schools (FFS) covering climate-smart/regenerative agriculture, crop contingency planning, integrated nutrient management, integrated pest management, water management, soil health improvement, and sustainable crop production practices.
• Conduct regular field visits, handholding support to lead farmers, and on-site advisory support to ensure effective adoption of improved agricultural technologies.
• Facilitate capacity-building programmes, exposure visits, practical demonstrations, and farmer trainings on project-supported agriculture interventions.
• Support FFSs, Farmer Producer Organizations and community institutions in planning, implementing, and sustaining agriculture-based livelihood activities.
• Strengthen convergence with Government Departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Agriculture Universities, ATMA, ICAR institutes, line departments, and other technical agencies for resource mobilization and technical support.
• Ensure timely availability and quality of agriculture inputs supplied under the project and monitor their proper utilization.
• Maintain accurate documentation of demonstration plots, beneficiary records, input distribution, farmer trainings, field observations, adoption status, and project achievements.
• Collect, verify, analyze, and report agriculture intervention data through project MIS/PMIS and other reporting systems.
• Document innovative practices, success stories, case studies, field experiences, and lessons learned from project interventions.
• Prepare monthly work plans, field visit schedules, progress reports, and technical updates for submission to the Project Coordinator.
• Monitor the performance and sustainability of agriculture demonstrations and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Promote climate-smart agriculture, natural resource conservation, soil health management, biodiversity conservation, and environmentally sustainable farming practices.
• Encourage farmers to adopt integrated farming systems linking agriculture, livestock, nutrition, and natural resource management.
• Work in close coordination with Community Facilitators, Social Mobilizers, Livestock Executives, Project Coordinators, and partner organizations to ensure integrated implementation of project activities.
• Perform any other agriculture-related duties assigned by the Project Coordinator and Program Officer-Agriculture.

• Functional Nutri Kitchen Garden 2.0 Models established.
• Trellis/Machan Farming demonstrations successfully implemented.
• Operational Bio Resource Centres established.
• High Value Crop demonstrations with IPM practices adopted by farmers.
• Climate-resilient Wheat Seed Production promoted.
• Community Seed Banks established and functional.
• Fodder Plantation on bunds demonstrated and scaled.
• Farmer Field Schools conducted as per seasonal crop calendar.
• Timely submission of quality reports and documentation.
• Increased adoption of climate-smart agriculture technologies.
• Strong convergence with Government departments, KVKs, and technical institutions.

Selection Criteria
• Educational Qualification: Diploma/B.Sc. in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related discipline with 1–2 years of relevant field experience in development sector.
• Community Facilitation Skills: Demonstrated ability to mobilize and train farmers, establish demonstration plots, and work effectively with FPOs, SHGs, and community institutions.
• Technical Competence: Sound knowledge of climate-smart and regenerative agriculture, integrated farming systems, Farmer Field Schools (FFS), crop production, and nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
• Communication Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in using smartphones and basic MS Office applications for field reporting and documentation.
• Field Orientation: Willingness to travel extensively within the project area, work closely with rural communities, and uphold Heifer India's values of integrity, inclusion, gender equity, and sustainable development.
