Staff Nurse/ Paramedical Staff - Child Care Institution

Position Title: Staff Nurse/ Paramedical Staff – Child Care Institution

Location: Prayas Children Home for Girls, Tughlakabad Institutional Area

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

The Staff Nurse will be responsible for ensuring the health, hygiene, and medical care of children residing in the Child Care Institution (CCI), including Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP), as mandated under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and JJ Model Rules, 2016.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care: Provide nursing care to children, including routine health checks, wound care, and assistance in emergencies.

Medication Administration: Dispense prescribed medicines, maintain dosage records, and monitor side effects.

Monitoring of Health Conditions of the Children: Maintain medical files, immunization records, and growth charts for each child.

Hygiene & Sanitation Supervision: Ensure personal hygiene of children and cleanliness of living spaces.

Emergency Response: Assist medical officers during accidents, illnesses, or crises within the institution.

Medical Supplies Management: Maintain stock of medicines, first aid kits, and medical equipment.

Coordination: Work with doctors, Hospitals, counselors, and social workers to provide holistic care.

Training & Sensitization: Support awareness sessions for staff and children on health, nutrition, and hygiene.

Reporting: Submit health status reports to the Superintendent/CCI In-Charge and assist in documentation for inspections under JJ Act & Rules.

Qualifications

Educational: GNM Diploma (3 years) or B.Sc. Nursing (4 years).

Registration: Must be registered with the Nursing Council.

Experience: Preferably 2–3 years in pediatric or community health nursing.

Skills: Compassion, child-friendly approach, ability to handle trauma cases, and knowledge of JJ Act health provisions.
