Background
JSI R&T India Foundation (JSI Foundation) is a not-for-profit organization, registered in 2014 under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013. The mission of the JSI Foundation is to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable communities through innovative, evidence informed and replicable strategies in partnership with government, private sector and civil society. JSI Foundation works closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Women and Child Development, as well as state counterparts, leading CSR companies, and Global Fund to implement context specific and comprehensive public health programs in India.
Project Overview
Project Tushti, supported by Nayara Energy, is a flagship nutrition initiative aimed at combating malnutrition and improving health outcomes in high-concentration areas of Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat. Since its inception in 2019, the project has implemented community-driven interventions that have significantly reduced malnutrition rates in targeted regions.
Building on its success in Devbhumi Dwarka, Project TUSHTI is being expanded to Porbandar, Gir Somnath and Amreli districts, in addition to Devbhumi Dwarka to strengthen maternal and child nutrition outcomes, reduce malnutrition, and build Suposhit Panchayats through convergence, behaviour change communication and service strengthening.
Job Summary
The M&E Officer will be responsible for strengthening data systems, monitoring project performance, and generating evidence-based insights to support effective decision-making during the execution of Project TUSHTI. Working under the guidance of the Project Manager, the role includes managing nutrition data, tracking beneficiaries, supporting field teams on data quality, developing dashboards and reports, and ensuring timely reporting to donors and government stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitoring, Evaluation & Data Management
- Develop, implement and strengthen the project’s M&E framework, indicators, reporting tools and data management systems aligned with Tushti’s objectives and workplan.
- Maintain and update beneficiary databases including SAM, MAM, SUW, MUW children, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and Adolescent Girls.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data entry in Tushti Database.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data collection, reporting, and validation.
2. Data Quality & Analysis
- Conduct regular data quality checks and validation in coordination with the District Coordinators, Block Coordinators and Field Officers.
- Analyze trends in malnutrition reduction, service coverage, and behaviour change indicators.
- Identify implementation gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Support baseline, midline, endline, operational research, and impact assessments.
- Prepare analytical reports for program improvement.
3. Reporting & Visualization
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for submission to donors, and government stakeholders.
- Develop dashboards, infographics, and presentations for district, state, and CSR review meetings.
- Generate district-wise performance reports for review meetings.
- Support documentation of best practices, success stories, and learnings from the field.
4. Capacity Building & Field Support
- Build the capacity of District Coordinators, Block Coordinators and Field Officers on data collection tools, indicators and reporting protocols.
- Provide supportive supervision to improve field-level data accuracy and use of digital tools.
5. Coordination & Learning
- Coordinate with project team to align data reporting, monitoring systems.
- Support learning and adaptive management by sharing actionable insights with project leadership.
6. MIS & Digital Systems
- Manage project MIS and digital reporting systems.
- Improve automation of reports and dashboards using Excel, Power BI, Looker Studio or similar software.
- Ensure data backup and security.
- Troubleshoot data- related issues reported by Field teams.
Key Deliverables / Outputs
- High-quality, timely project reports and dashboards for donors and government.
- Accurate beneficiary tracking and nutrition surveillance data across all implementation districts.
- Regular data analysis supporting program improvements and decision-making.
- Baseline, endline, and impact assessment reports demonstrating project outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills
JSI Foundation seeks a results-oriented individual with the ability to produce high quality deliverables, manage multiple concurrent tasks, meet tight deadlines, and pay close attention to detail. The successful candidate is required to have:
- Post Graduation or Graduation in Statistics/Data Analytics/Mathematics/Commerce/Computer Science/Social Work or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience of data collection, data analysis and data visualization of the State/district level MIS, using SPSS/STATA. Experience of working with leading state/regional level organizations, or Government will be an advantage.
- Understanding of the functioning of ICDS, Health, PRI and field level functionaries (ASHA, AWW, ANM)
- Understanding of data/MIS related to health and nutrition, preferably Poshan tracker will be an added advantage.
- Experience of working in teams and with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent reading and writing skills in Gujarati and English languages.
- Strong skills in MS Office, development of PPT is essential.
