Job Title :Research Associate
Location: Meghalaya (with extensive field travel across the state)

Job Summary The Research Associate (RA) will support research activities for an early childhood development project in Meghalaya, by leading translation, piloting, and transcription of research tools and conducting qualitative data collection with frontline functionaries, trainers, and government stakeholders. The RA will travel extensively across designated districts of Meghalaya, conduct field-level interactions and interviews, meticulously document qualitative observations in line with study protocols, and support the research team with transcription, preliminary coding, and analysis of collected data.
Essential Functions
The candidate will perform the following key functions:
• Translate (and back-translate) research and study tools into the local language(s) of Meghalaya (Khasi, Garo, Jaintia).
• Support piloting of quantitative and qualitative instruments.
• Undertake field/exposure visits and interactions with frontline functionaries, trainers, and government stakeholders.
• Support revision of research tools based on piloting and field learnings.
• Conduct baseline qualitative data collection through participatory and qualitative methods (such as FGDs and IDIs) across designated districts of Meghalaya.
• Transcription of collected qualitative data from the local language to English.
• Preliminary coding of qualitative data and support in analysis.
• Maintain a rigorous travel schedule, necessitating regular visits to diverse regions within Meghalaya.
• Report writing and documentation of field findings.
• Any other task in congruence with the above.

Personal Competencies
Education: Graduate in Public Health/Social Sciences, Early Childhood Development, or any other related field, with experience in qualitative data collection and preferably qualitative data analysis.
• Fluency in the local language(s) of Meghalaya, in addition to English.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in notetaking and the organization of qualitative data.
• Experience in translation and transcription of qualitative research tools and data.
• Administering qualitative and quantitative research instruments.
• Adaptable and willing to travel extensively to different districts of Meghalaya for data collection purposes.

Remuneration
Remuneration will be at the rate of INR 1,000–1,200 per day, for an estimated 25-30 working days over the course of the engagement (3-4 months).
