Position: Director - Family Health
Location: Delhi
An international non-governmental organization seeking highly motivated individual for the position of Director – Family Health at New Delhi.
We are looking for an experienced leader for the Director - Program (Family Health) role. This person will provide strategic leadership and technical guidance for multiple projects in MNH, FP, Immunisation and Nutrition projects that are being run at both the national and state levels.
Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership to Family Health Portfolio in India
o Leading the development and periodic review the internal strategies for Family Health
o Represent various projects in steering and advisory committees, actively contributing to priority setting and policy formulation.
o Establish effective communication and collaborations with national and state government agencies, development partners, local organizations, and other stakeholders.
o Develop operational guidelines, white papers, and policy notes to support the program's objectives.
o Prepare and support action plans for scaling up innovations and policy-level recommendations.
o Build excellent working relationships with all key stakeholders in the ministry of health and other ministries at the national level and in all intervention states.
• Assure Program Efficiency across various projects under the Family Health Portfolio
o Provide strategic vision and technical leadership to project and responsible for managing the program implementation and operations across all intervention states.
o Assure accountability of project leads for project performance, ensuring delivery of quality results on time, and in compliance with organization’s policies and regulations
o Support the development budgets, monitor expenditures and maintain good financial stewardship of the projects in coordination with the Finance team and State program staff.
o Organize, manage and provide programmatic and technical inputs for the projects from international and national staff, partners and short-term consultants so as to ensure smooth implementation
o Foster catalytic networks and engage non-traditional stakeholders to identify, develop, and propose solutions for health challenges and build evidence for better health within private sector engagement.
o Identify opportunities for and support growth of impactful partnerships that leverage the combined skills, assets, technologies, and resources of the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
o Work with the team to prioritize challenges for which innovative demonstration models
need to be designed to accelerate project performance and results.
o Take lead in developing and implementing the annual program work plan for project in consultation with state teams, donor, national and state government.
o Guide the documentation and communications team in drafting project results, successes, challenges and lessons learned through success stories, process documentations, communication collaterals and case studies etc.
o Ensure timely reporting to the donor on all programmatic and financial requirements.
• Build the Family Health Portfolio
o Build the capacity of Program Officers in both technical and managerial roles by identifying talent and developing coaching and mentoring programs.
o Actively engage donors and other stakeholders to expand the Family Health Portfolio. Focus on the strategy and key initiatives aimed at making an impact on Family Health in India. Collaborate with donors, development partners, technical agencies, private sector entities, and CSR agencies to leverage both financial and technical resources for projects.
o Promote innovative private sector engagement models and approaches within the healthcare delivery system.
o Ensure that systems are established to mitigate risks related to fraud, waste, and abuse of resources in partnership with F&A team.
• Any other assignments assigned by the organization:
o Serve as a senior management team member
o Complete additional tasks as directed by the Reporting Authority.
o Assist in developing various reports and documents as needed.
Qualifications & Core Competencies:
• Master's / PhD degree in Nutrition/ Public Health/ Health System Management/ Health Administration/ and/or a related field
• Minimum of 15 years of work experience at national/state level with development agencies/ NGOs, and/or UN agencies working with public health, and/or nutrition-related programs
• Program Management leadership
o Demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, organizational, team-building, and representational skills.
o Familiarity with the Indian health system, newer initiatives in health sector and relevant government policies/ strategies particularly National Health Mission
o Proven project management experience in handling complex projects and delivering results quickly.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders such as government officials, partners, and local groups.
o Experience working with government agencies, donors, and community stake holders.
o Skilled in managing budgets, monitoring financial progress, and ensuring resource efficiency.
• Technical leadership
o Ability to engage with a multidisciplinary team and provide technical insight into program solutions.
o Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with proficiency in data analysis and the development of evidence-based solutions.
o Exhibits strategic thinking and the ability to formulate innovative solutions to complex issues.
o Possesses a thorough understanding of MNH and Nutrition policies, strategies, and programs, with preferable contributions to the development of national or state policies and strategies.
• General
o Proficient in operating within a dynamic environment, effectively prioritizing tasks and adhering to deadlines.
o In-depth knowledge of various donor regulations, compliance and reporting requirements will be an asset. Prior experience of working on Gates Foundation Projects/ other donor funded bilateral is desirable
o Demonstrates willingness to travel across various states and districts to furnish technical assistance, along with the capability to handle multiple assignments concurrently to meet specified timelines.
o Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is considered advantageous.
