Lokayat (MANAVLOK), a voluntary organisation, working for the socioeconomic
upliftment of the rural poor in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra State in India.
The organisation is working in the sectors of Watershed, Agriculture, Disaster Relief
Services, Gender Equality, Elder and Disabled care, as an approach to integrated
rural development.

MANAVLOK is seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer / Technical Expert
for the Soil and Water Resource Management Program in Buldhana District,
Maharashtra. The position involves providing technical leadership in planning,
designing, and supervising watershed development and soil & water conservation
structures.

The selected candidate will ensure the quality implementation of civil works,
adherence to technical standards, and effective utilization of project resources. This
role is ideal for professionals committed to sustainable rural development and willing
to work closely with communities in field-based settings

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Survey
? Conduct topographic and site surveys in watershed areas.
? Prepare watershed development plans.
? Supervise construction activities to ensure quality, safety & adherence to
approved designs
? Conduct technical surveys, site assessments & feasibility studies for watershed
interventions.
? Identify locations for structures like check dams, farm ponds, & percolation
tanks

Design of Structures
A civil engineer designs structures such as:
? Check dams
? Gabion structures
? Farm ponds
? Contour bunds
? Percolation tanks
? Nala bunds
? Loose boulder structures

Construction Supervision
? Supervise construction work at field sites.
? Ensure proper materials, dimensions, and quality control.
? Coordinate with contractors and field teams.
? Coordinate with local authorities and line departments for technical approvals
where required.
? Ensure compliance with donor guidelines and relevant government
standards.

Water & Soil Conservation
Work on techniques related to:
? Rainwater harvesting
? Groundwater recharge
? Soil erosion control
? Drainage line treatment
? Technical guidance to field staff

Documentation & Reporting
? Prepare technical Designs, drawings, estimates, and reports.
? Maintain measurement books (MB) and project records
? Verify measurements, maintain technical documentation, & Certify bills.
? Technical specifications for soil and water conservation structures

Eligibility Criteria:
Education & Experience:
? Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering

Experience:
? Minimum 5-8 years of experience in watershed development, rural
infrastructure, or soil & water conservation projects
? Experience in donor-funded or NGO-led development projects preferred.
? Proficiency in preparing estimates, BOQs, and using relevant engineering
tools/software.
? Willingness to travel extensively and work in rural project areas.

Skills & Competencies:
? Civil engineering design knowledge
? AutoCAD & Google Earth required
? Knowledge of hydrology and watershed management
? Surveying skills (Strong technical and analytical skills)[SG1]
? Project supervision
? Communication with local communities
? Commitment to sustainable and climate-resilient development
? Mandatory Language Proficiency: Fluent in Marathi, Hindi, and English
(speaking, writing, typing).

Compensation & Benefits:
? Salary Range: ?50,000 - ?55,000 per month, depending on skills and
experience, with an annual increment of approximately 5% based on
performance and organizational policies.
