Job Title - Agriculture Instructor
Job Summary
Jagori Rural Charitable Trust (JRCT) is looking for a qualified and committed professional to serve as Trainer (Livelihood Coach / Agriculture Instructor). The Trainer will be responsible for strengthening sustainable livelihood practices among marginalized farmers and community members, with a focus on environmentally friendly and climate-resilient agriculture.
The position involves capacity building, practical field demonstrations, monitoring of adoption of improved practices, and strengthening linkages with institutions and markets. The Trainer will support communities in improving productivity, income, and resilience while promoting gender-just and inclusive participation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training & Capacity Building
Develop and conduct training sessions on sustainable farming techniques, soil health management, pest control, crop diversification, and organic practices.
Provide hands-on demonstrations and practical workshops to farmers and community groups.
Promote climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
2. Field Support & Advisory Services
Conduct regular field visits to assess farming practices and provide tailored recommendations.
Guide farmers on seed selection, irrigation methods, and post-harvest management.
Support the formation and strengthening of farmer groups, self-help groups, and cooperatives for knowledge sharing and improved market access.
3. Monitoring, Documentation and Evaluation
Track adoption of improved agricultural techniques among trainees.
Assess the impact of training interventions on crop yields and income levels.
Maintain accurate records and prepare monthly and event-based reports.
Document case studies, success stories, and best practices.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with government agricultural departments, research institutions, and NGOs.
Organize seed banks, farmer fairs, exhibitions, and knowledge-sharing events.
Facilitate linkages between farmers and markets for better price realization.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Degree in Agriculture, Rural Development or related field.
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in farmer training, sustainable agriculture, or livelihood programs, preferably in rural areas.
Competencies: Knowledge of climate-resilient agriculture, organic farming, and community mobilization.
Communication: Strong facilitation, documentation, and reporting skills. Fluency in Hindi and working knowledge of English; knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.
Deliverables
Accurate record keeping and timely submission of reports.
Regular follow-up visits to beneficiaries as per project targets.
Effective use and reuse of information materials during the project.
Positive feedback from beneficiaries regarding improvement in knowledge and skills.
Documented evidence of improved agricultural practices and enhanced income levels.
