Job Summary:
The Junior Technical Officer will support the planning, design, and execution of project infrastructure related to water resource management, including tanks, check dams, recharge structures, and water conservation systems. The role involves assisting in technical design preparation, site supervision, quality monitoring, and ensuring that all civil works are implemented as per approved specifications and standards.
Working under the guidance of the Senior Technical Officer/Engineer, the position will contribute to field-level implementation, measurement verification, contractor coordination, and progress tracking of hardware interventions. The officer will also assist in maintaining technical documentation, drawings, and work reports, while ensuring compliance with project timelines and quality benchmarks.
The role requires regular field engagement to monitor construction activities, troubleshoot site-level issues, and provide technical support to ensure efficient and sustainable infrastructure development within the project.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Junior Technical Officer (JTO)
1. Field Implementation & Supervision
Supervise on-ground execution of:
• Desilting of ponds/tanks and bund strengthening
• Construction of silt traps, inlet/outlet systems
• Cleaning and restoration of feeder channels
• Construction of check dams, weirs, spillways, and percolation ponds
• Sluice repair and new construction
• Installation of rooftop RWH systems in public institutions
• Construction of soak pits and recharge pits
• Conversion of defunct borewells/open wells into recharge structures
2. Site Assessment & Data Collection
• Conduct site surveys, measurements, and layout marking.
• Collect baseline data:
1. Water levels (pre- and post-intervention)
2. Soil type and infiltration capacity
3. Existing structure conditions
• Assist in identifying suitable locations for interventions.
3. Technical Support
• Prepare basic drawings, field layouts, and quantity estimates.
• Assist STO in DPR preparation and technical documentation.
• Ensure work is executed as per approved designs.
4. Quality Control (On-site)
• Monitor construction quality, materials, and workmanship daily.
• Identify and report deviations or issues immediately to STO.
5. Community Engagement & Awareness
• Mobilize communities for:
1. Participation in desilting and maintenance
2. Adoption of rainwater harvesting practices
• Coordinate with institutions for RWH system usage and upkeep.
6. Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain daily progress reports, site registers, and photo documentation.
• Track activity-wise progress (e.g., number of ponds desilted, recharge pits constructed).
• Report challenges, delays, and field observations.
7. Coordination
• Coordinate with contractors, masons, and local stakeholders.
• Ensure availability of materials and smooth workflow at sites.
Educational & Professional Requirements:
• Diploma /Degree in Civil Engineering department from a recognize institution.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year Work experience (freshers can also apply) preferably in government/NGO projects (Community/School WASH/sanitation sectors will be an advantage).
• Technical Skills - Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Office, MS Word.
• Understanding of water and sanitation themes and issues is desirable and must have strong interest to work in the Social Sector.

• Possess valid Driving License and own personal Two-wheeler (Mandatory Requirement).
