IHAT PURPOSE AND PRIORITIES
India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with the governments and communities.
ABOUT PROGRAM
The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. The technical assistance provided by UPTSU is integrated within the GoUP’s health system response for scale-up and sustainability. UPTSU focuses on interventions to improve outcomes in Family Planning, Maternal and New-born Health, and Nutrition, along with Routine Immunization, Digital Health, and other initiatives.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Assistant Manager–Program Support will play a crucial role in program coordination, planning and operational support. The role involves providing vital assistance to the PMU by developing routine program updates through narratives and power points by critically analysing available data and information. S/he shall develop and manage key project timelines and ensure necessary follow-ups with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables are accomplished within the timelines. The individual needs to be organized, skilled and competent to play the above role.
As project needs are dynamic, the individual should be able to adapt to changes in assigned responsibilities as discussed. Over time, the Assistant Manager–Program Support is expected to assess existing project processes and methodologies, identify gaps, and contribute to developing improved project strategies.
DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE
Program Management:
- Develop/maintain project workplans and trackers
- Share monthly updates in regard to progress made against action items as decided in all internal and external meetings
- Program data management and analytics
- Develop and improve necessary analysis and presentation framework for all internal and external meetings, and maintain minutes of meetings
- Maintain project schedules, manage and analyse progress using excel and other similar tools
- Liaising with internal UP-TSU teams to support effective collaboration in the implementation and knowledge management of ongoing project activities.
Documentation:
- Prepare concept notes, proposals and reports for consideration as required
- Prepare high-quality presentations for internal and external demonstrations as directed
- Maintain comprehensive repository of all relevant documents, reports, presentations and photographs
Strategic Planning:
- Conduct field visits to gauge program implementation, identify gaps in the current implementation of initiatives and develop strategies based on proven global best practices to address the identified gaps.
Miscellaneous:
- Any other work given by the line manager or organization from time to time
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Qualification: Master’s Degree in Public Health/Public Policy/Business Administration or relevant field.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum three years of experience in development sector, preferably in healthcare consulting space. Experience working in close coordination with national/state governments.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES
- Experience in public health program coordination, planning support, and program management.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple workplans, trackers, and reporting deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment.
- Ability to analyze program data and prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in documentation, report writing, and knowledge management.
- Strong coordination skills to engage with government agencies, funding bodies, and program stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office for workplan management, and reporting.
