About The Loyal Workshop
The Loyal Workshop is a social enterprise in Kolkata dedicated to the holistic wellbeing of its artisans, their families, and the broader Bowbazar community. We craft quality ethical leather goods by offering alternative employment to women trapped in the sex trade in Kolkata, India.
 
 
Role Overview
This dual role combines professional social work with administrative support. The successful candidate will lead holistic wellbeing initiatives for our artisans, implement trauma-informed care plans, and provide essential operational support to the team.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual strategic plans for social support programmes
  • Conduct individual and group counselling sessions using person-centred, trauma-informed approaches
  • Create and manage strengths-based care plans for every artisan
  • Facilitate recruitment, training, and onboarding of new artisan intakes
  • Organise annual women's health check-ups and accompany artisans to appointments
  • Conduct regular community and brothel visitations to build relationships and identify future employees
  • Facilitate ongoing artisan education (health, literacy, budgeting, women's rights workshops)
  • Manage Freedom Loan applications and liaise with HR/Admin on approvals
  • Provide administrative support including exhibition participation and document management
  • Liaise with government bodies, NGOs, hospitals, and other external stakeholders on behalf of artisans
 
 
What We Are Looking For
  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field
  • Experience working with marginalised women or vulnerable communities (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Bengali and English; Hindi an advantage
  • Empathetic, culturally sensitive, and committed to a strengths-based, non-judgmental approach
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage caseloads, documentation, and reporting
  • Willingness to conduct field visits within the Bowbazar area and surrounding community
 
Employment Details
Working Hours: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday (flexible hours may apply as needed)
 
Reports To: Operations Manager
 
Salary: To be discussed based on experience
