About the project

India with an estimated 2.8 million incident TB cases and 315,000 deaths in 2023 is the highest TB burden country in the world. India’s National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) has set ambitious targets to reduce the TB incidence rate by 80% and the number of TB deaths by 90% by the year 2025 relative to 2015.
With a TB prevalence of 747 per lakh and prevalence of TB Infection of 61% (57– 65%), Delhi has the highest burden of TB in India. The National TB Prevalence Survey , 2019, has revealed that, in Delhi, a majority of 69% did not seek care for their TB symptoms.

The union has been implementing community-based screening (ACF) in Delhi focusing on early case finding across multiple slums and vulnerable population of Delhi in 6 NTEP districts (Narela, BJRM, Nehru Nagar, Shastri Park, Karawal Nagar and Moti Nagar).

Under the project of ‘Delhi urban Health Initiative’, we have deployed 21 units of Artificial Intelligence enabled ultra-portable handheld X ray machines, with radiographers and field officers to operate the same, linked with an efficient sputum specimen collection and transportation system to ensure the completion of the cascade of care for all persons diagnosed with TB efficiently, thereby rapidly bringing down the burden of TB and deaths due to TB in Delhi.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to Deputy Director Programme/ Head of Programme

• Provide strategic and technical guidance to ensure high-quality implementation of the project.
• Management of all day to day operations under the project in the district including task allocation and strategic direction to members of the project team, decision making on distribution of resources and ensures functioning necessary equipment, services and logistics and supply, collation of reports from field so as to ensure achievement of the targets and deliverables.
• Liaison with DTO to ensure smooth conduct of the activities
• Mentor the field team for planning and execution on a daily basis enabling them to achieve the targets.
• Undertake Data Quality Assurance through weekly field visit and daily monitoring
• Perform other relevant duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Head of Office of The Union India Office.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification and Experience
• Post Graduate in Health Administration/Public Health or any other allied relevant field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in implementing public health projects. Experience in TB is desirable.
• Capacity to work independently and in a team environment with strong self-motivation
• Demonstrated experience in implementation/ support to TB control efforts in India
• Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills to interact with people at all levels in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary environment
• Proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, outlook), Data management software, Internet.
• Excellent drafting and presentation skills including ability to draft clear and concise reports
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a range of tasks
• Willingness to travel within the project districts as per project needs.
• Ability to plan, set priorities, handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Duration:
This position is offered as a fixed-term contract till 31 March 2027. Only candidates who can commit fully to the complete duration till 31 March 2027 should apply.
