Our initiatives aim to provide quality support to children for formal education and life skills education, mental health wellness, protection and empowerment of families, communities and schools to ensure continuum of care.
About the project:
Preventing risk behaviour among adolescents is one of the initiatives of Butterflies to minimize/eradicate delinquency in selected pockets of the Delhi through a preventive, child-centered, participatory and community-based, non-institutional approach. Through this project, the organization aim to identify children are risk and support them to retain in formal education system, prevent dropout before completing senior secondary level and successfully transiting to higher education or vocational courses as pathways to prevent delinquency.
About role:
The Case worker will be responsible for identifying and supporting children and adolescents who are at risk and support them to overcome challenges and barriers affecting their overall wellbeing. Using casework, group work and community development methods, the overall role will help the children to enhance their different capacities to deal with neglect, bullies, peer influence and pressure and remain in formal education systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop a strong connection with identified children and their parents.
- Prepare an individual file for each case work and update regularly.
- Conduct home visits and provide all necessary support to the families to lessen their problems or to resolve issues.
- Form groups and conduct group work to bring desired transformation among identified children.
- Assess need of the children to provide support and conduct life skills education session and sessions on other topics accordingly.
- Conduct sports activities and prepare a process documentation to see the impact and the changes among children.
- Identify the strengthens and interest areas of the children, prepare and conduct career guidance sessions.
- Help Program officer (education) in house visits of irregular children or children absent for a long time to resolve the issues if any found for irregularity and absence.
- Identify the area where parents need information/awareness and prepare and conduct sessions accordingly.
- Forming community social protection committee in the neighbourhood and conduct regular meeting, collective action and training for them.
- Build a rapport and make a liaison with families, communities, schools, police station, DCPU and representatives of local government etc.
- Prepare periodic reports, progress updates and documentation required by the project.
- Other task as assigned by supervisor/head of programs.
Specific knowledge, skills and experience required:
- A post graduate in Social Work preferably specialised in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in in mental health of children and adolescents.
- Ready to learn new concepts and approaches.
- Abilities to work with children from most marginalized communities.
- Strong organizational, documentation and planning skills.
- Proficiency in Hindi and English.
Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with qualification, experience, and organizational norms.
Nature of contract:
Initially, there is a six-month provision period and afterward, one year contract will be given which will be renewed every year based on performance appraisal and availability of funds.
