Role Summary
Sr. Program Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Mobile Health Clinics (MHCs) project serving low-income group communities / clusters in municipal wards of Mumbai. This Role ensures effective delivery of doorstep primary healthcare services through MHC operations, supports leadership in conceptualizing and designing community-based healthcare models, and builds strong donor and stakeholder relationships to sustain and expand program impact.
Duties and responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Conceptualization
- Support leadership in designing innovative community-based healthcare delivery models.
- Develop strategic plans for scaling MHC operations and integrating with broader public health initiatives.
- Contribute to proposal development, donor presentations, and program concept.
Program Design & Execution
- Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of MHC operations across selected geographies in Mumbai.
- Supervise MHC teams including doctors, health workers, drivers, and data assistants.
- Ensure effective delivery of primary healthcare services aligned with project objectives.
- Work with technical advisors to integrate MHPSS and other initiatives into current programming
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Track monthly budgets, activities, and program progress against targets.
- Ensure timely data entry, prepare analytical reports, and provide insights for decision-making.
- Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation team to develop dashboards and trackers for donor reporting and internal reviews.
- Support in conducting surveys, baseline studies and community assessments to inform program design.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Review the current referral system and work to strengthen it.
- Implement innovative outreach ideas, special health days, and awareness campaigns.
Donor & Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, NGOs, government agencies, and local organizations.
- Represent Americares India Foundation in external forums, stakeholder meetings, and collaborative initiatives.
- Support in ensuring donor visibility through reports, publications, and outreach activities.
- Collaborate and partner with global program and M&E teams to align, improve and showcase the program
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Mentor and guide field teams to ensure adherence to protocols and quality standards.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
- Conduct regular team reviews and capacity-building sessions.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure maintenance of inventory across all MHCs.
- Ensure compliance with project protocols, safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Drive efficiency in service delivery while maintaining patient dignity and privacy.
Required Qualifications
- Post graduate degree in medical/AYUSH or Public Health Epidemiology / Health Management / Social Work / Sociology, or related field. Candidates with Bachelor degree in other fields or PhD qualification in other fields, having minimum 12 years experience will be considered
- Minimum 10–12 years of experience in community health programs, with at least 4-5 years in leading program implementation team in a reputed NGO.
Competencies required for the role include:
- Proven ability to design and execute comprehensive public health programs in a leading non-profit organization.
- Significant results in translating program strategy into operational plan, processes, and driving implementation.
- Demonstrated experience leading medium to large-scale program teams in previous roles and driving results.
- Creative problem solving and strategies for addressing onground challenges faced by program teams
- Program leadership experience across more than three states within India.
- Impeccable integrity, ethics, and judgment.
- Successful vendor vetting and negotiation competencies that help optimize program budgets
- Alignment with our organizational values – in growth mindset, behaviors, and demonstrated results.
- Fluent in English, proficient in Hindi, AND able to effectively communicate in Marathi.
