Job Title: Senior Secondary Teacher (Humanities)

Project : Model School Project – Ramgarh, Shekhawati, Rajasthan

Reports to: Thematic Lead

Location : Ramgarh, Shekhawati, Rajasthan

Level of Contact with Children :1 (Direct contact with children)

The position holder shall be responsible to adhere & work within the ambit of Plan India’s Safeguarding Children & Young People policy, Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse & Gender Equality Policies.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Under the Model School Project in Ramgarh, two fully functional computer labs have been established across two government schools. These labs are equipped with necessary hardware and supported by trained computer teachers.

The project aims to ensure that students from Classes 6th to 12th receive structured, curriculum-based computer education integrated within the school timetable. The initiative focuses not only on foundational digital literacy but also aims to progressively expose students to advanced computer knowledge including emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, digital tools, and future-ready skills.

This position will play a critical role in strengthening classroom instruction and improving academic outcomes for girls at the senior secondary level. The focus will remain on delivering quality humanities education while contributing to improved board results and enhanced student readiness for higher education.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Model School initiative aims to strengthen the quality of education in government girls’ schools with a focus on:
• Improved learning outcomes and board examination results
• Strengthening senior secondary humanities education
• Enhancing functional English proficiency within a Hindi-medium setting
• Promoting transition to higher education among girls

The intervention aligns with state education priorities on learning improvement, gender equity, and secondary education retention.
1. Purpose of the Position
The position is primarily responsible for delivering curriculum-aligned classroom teaching for Classes XI and XII (Humanities stream), ensuring:
• Timely syllabus completion
• Improved academic performance and board results
• Strengthened conceptual understanding
• Integration of basic English skills within subject teaching

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1 Classroom Transaction & Academic Delivery (40%)
• Deliver classroom teaching in History, Geography, Home Science, Hindi, and English as per state board curriculum
• Ensure structured lesson delivery, conceptual clarity, and exam readiness
• Maintain a conducive and gender-sensitive classroom environment
• Focus on improving pass percentage and subject-wise performance

4.2 Academic Planning & Curriculum Implementation (20%)
• Prepare annual, monthly, and weekly lesson plans aligned with school academic calendar
• Ensure 100% syllabus coverage within stipulated timelines
• Undertake structured revision and pre-board preparation
• Align teaching plans with school timetable and board requirements

4.3 Student Assessment & Learning Improvement (15%)
• Conduct periodic assessments (class tests, unit tests, pre-boards)
• Maintain student-wise academic records and performance tracking
• Identify learning gaps and provide remedial instruction
• Support improvement of low-performing students

4.4 English Language Integration (10%)
• Integrate functional English (reading, writing, speaking) within subject teaching
• Encourage basic classroom communication in English
• Support gradual improvement in students’ academic English usage

4.5 Career Awareness (Limited Scope) (5%)
• Provide basic orientation on career pathways for humanities students
• Encourage students to pursue higher education and employment opportunities
• Integrate guidance within classroom interactions without affecting academic time

4.6 School Coordination & Participation (5%)
• Coordinate with school leadership for academic planning and scheduling
• Participate in staff meetings, academic reviews, and school activities
• Support school-level academic initiatives

4.7 Documentation, Reporting & Compliance (5%)
• Maintain records of:
o Attendance
o Lesson plans
o Assessments and results
• Submit periodic progress reports to Project Lead
• Ensure adherence to child protection and safeguarding norms

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The performance of the position will be assessed against the following indicators:
• Syllabus Completion: = 95% completion within academic cycle
• Board Results Improvement: Measurable increase in pass percentage and subject scores
• Student Performance: Improvement in internal assessment scores (baseline vs. endline)
• Remedial Coverage: Support provided to identified low-performing students
• Attendance & Retention: Consistent student attendance in assigned classes
• English Improvement: Observable improvement in basic English usage among students
• Reporting Compliance: Timely submission of academic and progress reports

6. Deliverables / Expected Outputs
• Completed lesson plans and teaching records
• Student assessment data and performance reports
• Evidence of syllabus completion and revision cycles
• Improved academic outcomes in Classes XI–XII
• Basic integration of English within classroom processes

7. Required Qualifications and Experience
• Graduate/Postgraduate in Humanities (relevant subjects)
• B.Ed. or equivalent qualification (preferred)
• Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience, preferably at senior secondary level
• Experience in multi-subject teaching desirable
• Prior experience in government school settings / education projects preferred

9. Safeguarding and Compliance

The position holder will be required to:
• Adhere to organizational Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies
• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students
• Report any safeguarding concerns as per protocol

10. Remuneration
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in line with project norms.

11. Contract Type and Duration
Contractual position (initially for 9 months; renewable based on performance and project continuation).
