About Smriti Gram - The Dementia Care Village:
Smriti Gram is a groundbreaking initiative of Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT), envisioned as a benchmark model for dementia care in India. It builds upon over two decades of NMT’s pioneering experience in dementia care and caregiver support. Located in a 5 acre serene green campus near Doddaballapura, Bengaluru, Smriti Gram is designed to provide a safe, enabling, dignified, person-centred, comprehensive care ecosystem for elders living with dementia, in a 5 acre serene campus near Doddaballapura, Bengaluru. Once fully operational, this 300-bed dementia village will be among the largest of its kind globally, offering a comprehensive and compassionate ecosystem for persons living with dementia. In the first phase, a 100 bed facility fully dedicated for the care of elderly with dementia from the marginalized families is being set-up, expected to be operational by Sept 2026. A training and research academy is also established at Smriti Gram, integrating care, training and research in Dementia.
Job Description:
We are looking for a committed, compassionate and dynamic professional to join our team as Project Manager / Centre Manager for Smriti Gram - The Dementia care village based at Doddaballapura, Bengaluru. S/he will be responsible for the initial set-up, building the team, operationalization, management, administration, and quality of services at Smriti Gram. The role requires leadership in ensuring compassionate, person-centred dementia care while overseeing multidisciplinary teams, resident wellbeing, infrastructure, compliance, and stakeholder and donor engagement.
The position demands a professional with strong operational capabilities, people management skills, empathy towards older persons and the ability to build systems and processes aligned with the vision and values of Nightingales Medical Trust.
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Initial set-up & team building:
• Set-up the first 100 beds earmarked for the care of elderly with dementia from marginalized families.
• Build the team required for the operations with support from HR Department
• Identify Persons with Dementia (PwD) from marginalized families with the help of the team
• Conduct a dry-run of operations before actual commencement
• Work with the Senior Leadership team and Management for the inauguration of Smriti Gram
• Facilitate admissions as per the eligibility criteria with approval from the selection committee
• Liaise with the Govt stakeholders, local panchayat, community, donors and other relevant stakeholders for the smooth project execution
2. Operations & Administration
• Oversee the day-to-day functioning of Smriti Gram.
• Ensure smooth coordination across all departments including caregiving, nursing, rehabilitation, housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, administration and security.
• Develop and implement operational systems, SOPs and quality protocols.
• Monitor occupancy, admissions, resident movement and service delivery.
• Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, resources and infrastructure.
3. Resident Care & Wellbeing
• Ensure delivery of high-quality person-centred dementia care.
• Promote dignity, safety, autonomy and quality of life for residents.
• Coordinate individualized care plans in collaboration with clinical and caregiving teams.
• Address resident grievances, behavioural concerns and psychosocial needs.
• Monitor resident engagement, activities, nutrition and rehabilitation programs.
4. Team Leadership & Human Resource Management
• Lead, supervise and mentor multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure adequate staffing and duty allocation.
• Conduct staff orientation, training and performance monitoring.
• Foster a compassionate, ethical and collaborative work culture.
• Address staff concerns, discipline and team coordination.
5. Family & Stakeholder Coordination
• Maintain effective communication with residents’ families and caregivers.
• Conduct family meetings and provide regular updates on resident wellbeing.
• Liaise with consultants, doctors, hospitals, government departments, donors and partner organizations.
• Support community outreach, awareness and advocacy initiatives.
6. Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and standards.
• Maintain documentation, records and reporting systems.
• Oversee infection control, fire safety, emergency preparedness and risk management systems.
• Ensure adherence to safeguarding and resident protection measures.
• Monitor audits, inspections and quality improvement initiatives.
7. Financial & Resource Management
• Assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets.
• Ensure cost-effective operations and optimal resource utilization.
• Monitor expenditures, procurements and inventory systems.
• Support fundraising initiatives, donor reporting and utilization tracking as required.
8. Program Development & Strategic Support
• Support development of innovative dementia care models and community-based initiatives.
• Contribute to planning, policy formulation and organizational growth.
• Coordinate special events, training programs and awareness activities.
• Assist management in implementation of strategic initiatives.
• Perform other activities, as assigned by the supervisor to achieve organizational goals
Educational Qualification;
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in in Hospital Administration/Healthcare Management/Social Work/Public Health /Nursing/Psychology/Management
Experience and Skills:
• 5-10 years of relevant professional experience in the healthcare/hospital management/eldercare/mental health/dementia care/rehabilitation and development sector.
• Experience managing residential care facilities or assisted living centres and exposure to dementia care practices and elder care services will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance and statutory requirements
• Strong communication skills interacting with older persons living with dementia and their families.
• Experience in multidisciplinary team management
• Proven experience in planning and organizing, leadership and team management, problem-solving and decision-making, crisis and conflict management required
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of Kannada and other regional languages would be an added advantage
• Strong engagement and coordination skills, able to collaborate well internally and with external teams.
• Ability to work in a full-time residential and community care environment.
• Ability to stretch working hours during emergencies or special events.
