The organisation is currently working directly with nearly a million of people across six different program operation locations besides a central management and coordination office at Kolkata. As a part of its aspirations and growth, Sabuj Sangha is launching a four year long integrated initiative in the Mainpat Block of Surguja district in Chhattisgarh.
About the position:
Sabuj Sangha is launching a project on sustainable socio-economic development of distressed non-arrived tribal communities in the hills & forest-based areas of Mainpat block under Surguja district of Chhattisgarh through integrated livelihood, natural resource management, education and health interventions. The Thematic Expert – Natural Resource Management (TE – NRM) would be in charge of implementation, monitoring and stakeholder engagement of the activities under NRM under the Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) of Sabuj Sangha. S/he will ensure quality delivery of the MRM related activities and services to the best of satisfaction of the communities, its primary and secondary impact groups and the local government. TE – NRM will ensure accomplishment of all committed activities, achievement of results & outcomes of NRM activities in alignment with the action plan that has been approved by the donor.
The position will be responsible to create impacts on women, girls and young people by transforming their lives. The person needs to ensure delivery of Natural Resource Management, Education, Livelihoods and Health & Sanitation for and with the communities, Government, Care Givers and Service Providers in complete alignment to the Sabuj Sangha and the donor’s mandates and in compliance with the Government guidelines. The person will do regular monitoring and undertake structured review of the performances of the Project Staffs. The person will also join the colleagues under the project to represent Sabuj Sangha for strategic discussion and engagement with the Government and other important duty bearers.
Key responsibilities:
i. Shall act as the Focal Point and would be responsible for planning, designing, implementation and management of all activities under the Natural Resource Management vertical.
ii. Prepare area and activity wise budgets of different activities under NRM vertical, share it with the Programme Manager and Finance Coordinator to ensure uninterrupted delivery of the activities as per the work plan.
iii. Key activities under the NRM will include installation of Solar street lights across project villages, installation of Solar Lift Irrigation, Construction of new Check-Dams, excavation of Group Based Farm Ponds, Farm Ponds through Government Support and initiate/ strengthening of Horticulture Plantation for farmers through Government Support
iv. S/he will play instrumental role on identification of spots/ locations for installation, excavation or renovation of the planned activities in consultation with the villagers, local governance, block and district administration.
v. S/he will be responsible for identification of families/ individuals as beneficiaries of the NRM activities in consultation with the local government representatives and complete legal formalities in relation to that.
vi. S/he will work with the PM and FC of HRDP – Chhattisgarh for identification of vendors/ suppliers of materials for NRM activities, ensure supply of materials to all concerned locations for accomplishment of the tasks as desired,
vii. Prepare activity and village wise work-plans in coordination with the Cluster Coordinators and village committees and inform the block authorities in advance for their engagement and support.
viii. Will supervise, monitor progress of all ongoing activities, and expedite actions as required for timely completion of planned NRM activities.
ix. Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports and Financial Update and ensure their timely submission to the Programme Manager.
x. Contribute to preparation of monthly updates, quarterly/ half-yearly and annual reports and share it with the Programme Manager towards fulfilling donors’ requirement.
xi. Provide technical assistance and support to the relevant PRI, block and district level government officials, departments as and whenever required.
xii. Train and build capacities of the users of NRM activities (villagers/ communities) in consultation with the Programme Manager for maintenance and management of the infrastructures that would be developed.
xiii. Regular monitoring and supervision of key project activities and the staff employed in the unit.
xiv. Mobilize (10 -20)% of total funding requirement of the NRM activities through community contribution, donation of land, labour and Govt. engagement.
Education and work experience: Masters in Social Work or Social Sciences, Masters in Business Administration with minimum seven (7) years of experience of working in the Rural Development, Natural Resource Management.
