BLOCK COORDINATOR- JOB DESCRIPTION

WORK LOCATION: Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Araria, Purnia & Kishanganj, Bihar

Under the supervision of Project Director- GPSVS and Concern officers-UNICEF team based in the districts and would be responsible for the implementation & ensure delivery of Climate Resilient WASH Behavior Change intervention outcomes through different approaches used with Social mobilization and stakeholder's coordination.

The Block coordinator is expected to undertake operational responsibilities for different activities of the project.

Thematic responsibilities
1. Adaptation and execution of WASH-DRR focused Behavior Change activities, which mostly includes:
a. Collecting and gathering both qualitative and quantitative data resulting in the validation of behavioral objectives.
b. Provide Input in SBC strategy applying the project’s different audiences.
3. Support CR-WASH activities
4. Support in documentation, monitoring & evaluation, and learning purposes to illustrate the results of the WASH-SBC activities carried out (including taking photos and videos).
5. Advocate with PRIs, educational institutions, cultural centers, other organizations in community for better integration of local Social Behavior approaches and methods.
6. Support in orientation of the groups in understanding the SBC processes and relevant thematic areas such as water, sanitation, public health etc. to ensure the effectiveness of the project activities in the community.

Operational responsibilities
1. Coordinate CR-WASH SBC activities so that there is coherence and complementarity between them to have a positive impact on the specific target groups and the community.
2. Support in execution activities linked to the interventions of the other components of the project (Access to water and sanitation; and Capital financing for WASH products and services).
3. Maintain a clear line of communication between the different groups of the project areas and GPSVS Program Director & Team and UNICEF officers
4. Manage the resources allocated to the CR-WASH activities efficiently (in collaboration with PD GPSVS, & UNICEF officer).
5. Consolidate and compile the reports of SBC groups/artists and support in incorporation of information into the different reports (annual, biannual and final).
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Based in concern District/blocks, local ties would be preferred.
• Fluent in Hindi and English.
• Bachelor Degree in one of the following courses: - social sciences, sociology/social work, community development, political science, Mass communication, performing arts, cultural or artistic management or other related discipline;
• Experience of working in a non-governmental, non-profit and/or other local organizations is preferred, but freshers are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience in WASH, SBC, public health or social marketing campaigns;
• Excellent organizational, logistical and communication skills
• Good knowledge of the local cultural context and history
• Gender sensitive;
• Interest in water, sanitation, and hygiene;
• Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:

- Experience with non-governmental organizations for 1-2 years.
- Experience in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector for 1 years.
