Founded in 2009, Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEQUIN) works in the states of North India, to create gender equitable communities, with a rights-based and sports for development approach. Our main thematic areas of working are ending violence against women and girls, leadership, health and wellbeing, economic empowerment and education. To accomplish our goal, beyond girls and women, we also work with other stakeholders such as men and boys, local communities, educational institutions, civil society organisations, local representatives, funders, think tanks, government, media and the private sector, to unleash transformational change.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum Graduate in social science or any discipline from a recognised university.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in the development sector, NGO, or community-based organisation.
• Proficiency in spoken & written Hindi is essential. Working knowledge of English is required, while knowledge of Haryanvi will be considered an added advantage.

• Experience in counselling, community outreach, case management, referral services, or implementation of gender and social development programmes will be preferred.
• Strong understanding of gender, women's rights, child protection, government welfare schemes, and other developmental issues.

Remuneration: Rs 25,000/- per month (depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, previous salary history and demonstrated capacities)

Job Description – Helpdesk Counsellor:
The Help Desk Counsellor will anchor the Gender Resource Centre's (GRC) information, counselling, referral, and support services, serving as the first point of contact for women, adolescents, and other community members seeking information, guidance, and support.

• Manage the Help Desk at the community-based Gender Resource Centre (GRC), ensuring a welcoming, safe, and confidential environment for beneficiaries.
• Provide walk-in, telephonic, and online information, guidance, and counselling on issues related to health, education, gender-based violence, protection, livelihoods, and social security schemes.
• Explain eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, application procedures, and benefits under relevant government welfare schemes and entitlements.
• Assist beneficiaries with form filling, documentation verification, online applications, grievance registration, and access to public services.
• Conduct basic needs assessments, provide psychosocial support where appropriate, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with organisational safeguarding and data protection policies.
• Identify cases requiring specialised support and facilitate timely referrals to legal aid services, One Stop Centres (OSCs), healthcare facilities, police, shelter homes, Childline, mental health professionals, and other relevant service providers.
• Coordinate with government departments, partner organisations, and service providers to ensure effective referrals and timely follow-up of cases.
• Maintain confidential case files, referral registers, beneficiary records, follow-up documentation, and other Help Desk records accurately and systematically.
• Update beneficiary information and case progress in the Management Information System (MIS), and prepare regular reports, case summaries, and programme documentation.
• Plan and facilitate awareness sessions, community outreach activities, and information dissemination on women's rights, gender equality, child protection, legal rights, government schemes, and available support services.
• Promote community awareness and improve access to services through effective communication, outreach, and beneficiary engagement.
• Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Programme Coordinator or Management Team in support of programme objectives.

Reporting: You will be supervised by and will report directly to the Programme Coordinator

Employment Status: Contractual, full time

Location: As a full-time engagement, this role is based at Panipat, Haryana.
