About the Role | Assistant Fashion Designer
The Assistant Fashion Designer will work under the guidance of the Lead Fashion Designer and play a key role in the operations of our production center. Working closely with the Master Ji (Cutting Assistant), you will support and mentor the women artisans at the center. Your responsibilities will include developing new designs, materials, color palettes, patterns, and products inspired by Sambalpuri art and craft for our fashion brands and labels. While primarily based at the production center, the role may also involve occasional travel to coordinate with external manufacturers, artisans, and business partners.

Education and experience:
PG Diploma/Bachelor/Master- Fashion Design
Experience- 1-2 yrs of experience.
Designing Skills:

Job Role of a Fashion Design Assistant
- Material and Style Development: Assisting in the creation of new materials, styles, color palettes, and patterns for various fashion brands and labels. This often involves research, sketching, and preparing design boards.
- Production Coordination: Coordinating with production centers to ensure designs are translated accurately into manufactured garments. This can involve communication with manufacturers and overseeing the production process.
- Quality Control: Participating in quality control measures to ensure that products meet the desired standards and specifications.
- Procurement: Assisting with the sourcing and procurement of fabrics, trims, and other materials required for production.
- Upskilling Activities: Leading or participating in upskilling initiatives within the design team or with production partners to enhance skills and knowledge related to fashion design and production.
Essential Functions of a Fashion Designer
Design & Development:
- Create prototypes, tailor garments, and produce technical sketches.
- Develop CAD sketches and detailed tech packs.
- Craft clothing patterns for mass production.
- Select and test fabrics, colors, patterns, and textures.
Research & Trend Analysis:
- Research current fashion trends and forecast consumer preferences.
- Create mood, shape, and trend boards.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Explain technical and creative ideas to designers and stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings with customers and fabric agents.
- Gain customer approvals.
Production Oversight & Business:
- Oversee design production, including fittings, pricing, and marketing.
- Inspect products during the design process.
- Create cost sheets and product lists.
- Maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and models.
