Laboratory Technician

About Organisation: LEPRA Society is an organization working for people affected by Leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, TB, HIV/AIDS & other NTDs, Eye Care and governed by a board comprising of distinguished individuals from across India.

About the Project: Surgical Access & Management for Rehabilitation, Improvement of Disability & Dignity of Hydrocele-affected Individuals (SAMRIDDHI) project aims to reduce disability and improve the quality of life of 15,000 individuals affected by hydrocele in Samastipur, Bihar, through community-based identification, access to safe hydrocelectomy, rehabilitation, and strengthened health systems.

We seek a qualified Lab Technician position based at Samastipur District, Bihar

The position is for immediate employment

Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Procedures
• Perform Giemsa staining of blood smears.
• Conduct microscopic examination for detection of microfilaria.

Equipment & Biosafety
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Ensure strict adherence to biosafety and infection control protocols.
• Implement quality control measures to maintain accuracy and reliability of results.

Documentation & Reporting
• Record laboratory findings systematically and maintain patient test records.
• Prepare and submit timely reports to the Project Officer and relevant stakeholders.
• Support data management for project monitoring and evaluation.

Operational Support
• Assist in training sessions related to laboratory practices.
• Provide technical support during field sample collection and processing.
• Contribute to smooth day-to-day functioning of the project laboratory.

Key Competencies
• Strong technical skills in microscopy and staining techniques.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality assurance.
• Good documentation and reporting abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.


Qualifications and Experience:
• 12th in Science Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT/DMLT) with relevant
field experience.
• 3 years of working experience laboratory work, preferably in public health or related field would be given preference.

Remuneration: Rs. 20,000/- (Gross) per month
