Accounts Officer GLRA India:
German Leprosy and TB Relief Association (GLRA India) is a non-profit Indian entity since 1966 and working for the cause of Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Disability Inclusion and at the time of Humanitarian crisis. GLRA India is the counterpart of DAHW Germany in India, and we work with a vision “A world in which no one suffers from Leprosy, Tuberculosis and other poverty-related diseases and consequences such as physical disability and social exclusion”.
 
Currently, we work in 105 districts in 12 states through direct initiatives and also in collaboration with NGO partners by implementing various thematic projects besides supporting the National Leprosy Program in in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. 
 
GLRA India is looking for a “Accounts Officer” in Chennai. The incumbent will contribute to the implementation of a 4-year project in terms of budget utilization, reporting and will assist to make recommendations for optimizing the performance of the activities. Thus she/he would focus in;
 
Key Job Responsibilitiesl:
 
  • To apply principles of accounting by compiling information, preparing financial statements and utilising appropriate accounting control procedures as per the GLRA India financial operational procedure.
  • Scrutinizing the settlement of accounts from project locations and data entry of the same in Tally. Correspondence with Project Staff for any clarifications on finance and ensure accurate accounting as per the norms of the organization.
  • To inform Superiors about any accounting anomaly and to take suitable remedial action.
  • Ensure timely reporting by following the norms of Donor agency and submission of accounts in the specified formats.
  • Controlling of project budget, and preparation of need-based analysis reports of supported projects
  • To be capable of handling the project accounts independently up to the level of finalisation in Tally and reconciliation with donor agency and project co-ordinators.
  • Processing Payments, Reimbursements & correspondence with project staff
 
Competencies and Skills:
 
  • Proven ability in project budget management
  • Experience in leading and facilitating training workshops.
  • Must be a self-driven individual with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Work effectively within a team environment throughout the project life cycle.
  • Good interpersonal skills including problem solving and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel within country and beyond as per project needs.
  • Ability to plan, set priorities, handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines


Geographical scope: The position will be based in GLRA India office at Chennai
 
Qualification & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience, post qualification, and at least 5 years of experience on working in NGO sector.
  • Experience of working with international donor funded projects.
