JOB DESCRIPTION — PROJECT COORDINATOR

Position: Project Coordinator

Location: District HQ (Punjab)

Reporting to: Project Director

Employment Type: Full-time/Contractual

Working Days: 6 days/ week

Travel: Up to 20 days/ month

About the Program
Bahaar Foundation is implementing a large-scale Community Health Entrepreneur (CHE) Program in Punjab, India, with the goal of establishing 10,000 to 12,000 CHEs (one per village) over the next 2 years. The program will empower local women to serve as first-level health access points for their communities, offering preventive, promotive, and basic curative services in partnership with government systems and private stakeholders.

The Project Coordinator will serve as the district-level operational lead responsible for CHE activation, onboarding, training coordination, field supervision, stakeholder convergence, and performance management. The role requires strong field leadership, problem-solving capability, and regular engagement with communities, CHEs, and government systems.

Each Project Coordinator will oversee approximately 500–600 CHEs within assigned districts and ensure sustained field engagement, service delivery, and program implementation quality working closely with government agencies and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities
1. CHE Identification & Onboarding
• Coordinate with SRLM teams, Panchayats, SHGs, and local stakeholders to identify eligible women candidates with entrepreneurial potential and community acceptance.
• Lead block-level mobilisation, orientation sessions, and screening processes to ensure quality CHE selection.
• Ensure timely onboarding, documentation, and operational readiness of newly selected CHEs.
• Support newly onboarded CHEs in becoming field-active within defined timelines.
• Support CHEs through the enrolment and onboarding process.
• Ensure CHEs understand program expectations, reporting systems, and community engagement processes from the initial onboarding stage.

2. Training Coordination & Capacity Building
• Ensure all selected CHEs must complete 7-day foundational training and subsequent refresher training as per program requirements.
• Coordinate with Training Managers, district partners, and resource persons for effective training implementation.
• Monitor attendance, participation, learning outcomes and feedback during training programs.
• Support practical field-based mentoring and learning sessions where required.
• Ensure training translates into active field engagement and service delivery.

3. Ongoing Support & Mentorship
• Serve as the primary operational support person for CHEs within the assigned district
• Conduct regular field visits, provide supportive supervision to monitor CHE engagement, service delivery, awareness activities, and reporting quality.
• Ensure smooth functioning of digital reporting and data collection tools used by CHEs
• Promote regular household outreach, awareness activities, and service utilisation.
• Troubleshoot challenges faced by CHEs in community mobilisation, service delivery, digital reporting, confidence building, supply or operational issues.
• Identify inactive or low-performing CHEs and implement structured reactivation support.

4. Stakeholder Engagement
• Build strong working relationships with district/block health officials, ICDS supervisors, SHG leaders, Panchayats and other local stakeholders.
• Represent Bahaar Foundation at district/block-level review meetings.
• Coordinate with partners, training institutes, and government stakeholders to ensure local convergence and support systems for CHEs.
• Promote positive community acceptance and visibility of CHE services.

5. Monitoring & Reporting
• Maintain accurate district-level databases and records of CHEs & programs.
• Track key performance indicators (onboarding, training completion, service delivery, reporting , household outreach, retention and awareness activities)
• Submit timely progress reports, field visit notes, issue escalations and operational updates to the Project Director/ PMU
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes with data validation, field insights and operational feedback from the fields.

Qualifications & Experience
Education: Graduate in Social Work, Public Health, Rural Development, or related field. Postgraduation a plus

Experience:
• 5+ years of professional experience in community development, public health, women’s empowerment and livelihood programs.
• Minimum 3 years in field coordination roles across multiple blocks/districts.
• Prior experience working with ASHA, ANM, SHG, or community health/ livelihood workers preferred.

Skills:
• Strong coordination, field management, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills in Punjabi and Hindi; English preferred
• Ability to travel extensively (up to 15–20 days/month)
• Comfort with digital tools, mobile apps, and MS Office for reporting.
