About the Program
Organisation is working closely with the MoHFW to strengthen the national nutrition programme, including support for the Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) Abhiyaan. The programme provides technical and analytical support for planning, implementation, monitoring, capacity strengthening, communication, and evidence generation. Under the guidance of MoHFW, and in collaboration with partners and technical institutions, it strengthens programme governance, promotes data-driven decision-making, and supports progress towards national anaemia reduction targets.
About the Position
The Advisor-Nutrition will provide strategic and technical support to strengthen the planning, implementation, monitoring, and scale-up of the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The role will work closely with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Nutrition Division, state governments, development partners, and technical institutions to provide evidence-based technical guidance, strengthen programme implementation, support capacity building, and facilitate knowledge sharing. The incumbent is expected to provide technical oversight, support programme reviews and continuous quality improvement, undertake field visits, contribute to evidence generation and technical documentation, and support achievement of AMB Abhiyaan objectives in alignment with national nutrition priorities.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and technical advisory support to the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan under the overall guidance of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Nutrition Division and the Program Director.
• Provide technical guidance, facilitate capacity-building initiatives, and support training of government officials and other key stakeholders on AMB programme priorities and implementation approaches.
• Support the design and refinement of programme strategies, implementation frameworks, and technical approaches aligned with Government of India priorities, including strengthening the AMB 7x7x7 approach and the Test, Treat, Talk and Track (T4) approach.
• Provide technical support to state governments through regular coordination, supportive supervision, programme reviews, and field visits to strengthen implementation and monitor progress.
• Support strengthening of programme monitoring, analysis of programme performance, identification of implementation bottlenecks, and use of programme intelligence for evidence-based decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
• Provide technical support for rapid assessments, evidence generation, documentation of best practices, innovations, lessons learned, and cross-state learning to inform programme improvement and scale-up.
• Lead and/or technically review the development of knowledge products and programme documents, including technical guidelines, concept notes, capacity-building materials, fact sheets, analytical briefs, advocacy materials, reports, case studies, and other programme products.
• Liaise with national and state-level stakeholders, development partners, technical institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen coordination, knowledge sharing, and effective implementation of AMB interventions.
• Support the integration and effective use of digital monitoring and beneficiary-tracking platforms to strengthen programme monitoring, follow-up, and data-driven decision-making.
• Monitor programme progress, identify implementation gaps, and provide technical recommendations to improve programme quality, coverage, and outcomes.
• Undertake field visits to priority states and districts as required to provide technical assistance, assess implementation, support programme reviews, and document field-level learning.
Qualifications
• Required: Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field.
• Preferred: Doctoral degree (PhD) in Nutrition, Public Health, or related discipline.
• Required: 10+ years' experience of working in public health and nutrition at national/state level.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Public Health & Nutrition programs including National Health Mission and Anemia Mukt Bharat.
Skills
• Experience and demonstrated ability in public health and nutrition programmes, particularly Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
• Strong understanding of programme planning, implementation, monitoring, capacity building, and technical assistance.
• Understanding of nutrition and anaemia prevention and control approaches and Government of India priorities.
• Ability to analyse programme performance, identify implementation gaps, and develop evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience in technical documentation, knowledge management, evidence generation, and development of programme learning products.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Proficiency in writing technical documents such as technical guidelines, training materials, reports, briefs, fact sheets, and other programme documents.
• Strong demonstrated MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
