About the Program
Organisation is working closely with the MoHFW to strengthen the national nutrition programme, including support for the Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) Abhiyaan. The programme provides technical and analytical support for planning, implementation, monitoring, capacity strengthening, communication, and evidence generation. Under the guidance of MoHFW, and in collaboration with partners and technical institutions, it strengthens programme governance, promotes data-driven decision-making, and supports progress towards national anaemia reduction targets.
About the Position
The Communication Officer will provide communication, advocacy, and knowledge management support to strengthen the implementation and visibility of the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The role will work closely with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Nutrition Division, Program Manager/National Program Officer, technical advisors, communication team, state governments, development partners, and other key stakeholders to support implementation of the national communication strategy. The incumbent is expected to contribute to the development of IEC/BCC materials, digital content, advocacy resources, knowledge products, and communication strategies, while supporting stakeholder engagement, dissemination of programme evidence, and Jan Bhagidari (public involvement).
Roles and Responsibilities
• Support the implementation of the national communication strategy for Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan under the overall guidance of MoHFW and the Program Manager/National Program Officer.
• Support the development and implementation of communication, advocacy, and behaviour change approaches aligned with AMB Abhiyaan priorities and the national communication strategy.
• Develop, review, and coordinate the production of IEC/BCC materials, advocacy resources, digital content, knowledge products, and other programme communication materials.
• Support the development of communication and knowledge products to disseminate programme achievements, evidence, lessons learned, best practices, and innovations.
• Support development and implementation of targeted social media plans and digital communication strategies for different AMB beneficiary groups.
• Work closely with technical team members to translate technical programme information, data, evidence, and recommendations into clear and audience-appropriate communication products.
• Support communication for national and state-level programme reviews, technical consultations, workshops, and other AMB Abhiyaan events.
• Liaise with MoHFW, State Governments, development partners, technical institutions, and other stakeholders to strengthen communication, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination of programme information.
• Support Jan Bhagidari initiatives by developing communication approaches that promote community participation, awareness, and demand generation for anaemia prevention and management services.
• Support documentation of programme activities, achievements, promising practices, innovations, and field-level experiences for wider dissemination.
• Contribute to the development of communication briefs, presentations, newsletters, brochures, factsheets, digital content, and other programme materials as required.
• Coordinate with consultants, creative agencies, and other communication partners, as required, for development and execution of communication materials and campaigns.
• Ensure communication materials are technically accurate, consistent with Government of India priorities, and appropriate for intended audiences.
• Undertake field visits, as required, to document implementation experiences, collect communication stories, and support state-level communication activities.
Qualifications and Experience
• Required: Master’s degree in Communication, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Communication, Public Health, or a related field.
• Preferred: Advanced qualification in Communication, Public Health, Development Communication, or a related discipline.
• Required: 3-5 years' experience of working in communication, advocacy, behaviour change communication, or public health communication at national/state level.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Public Health & Nutrition programs including National Health Mission and Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Skills and Competencies
• Experience and demonstrated ability in strategic communication, advocacy, behaviour change communication, and development of communication materials.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Proficiency in writing and editing technical and communication documents such as briefs, reports, factsheets, newsletters, advocacy materials, and digital content.
• Strong understanding of communication approaches for public health and nutrition programmes.
• Experience in developing communication materials for different audiences, including government officials, health workers, communities, and programme stakeholders.
• Familiarity with digital communication, social media platforms, and development of digital content.
• Strong demonstrated MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to handle a variety of assignments.
• Ability to multitask and work in a multi-cultural team.
• Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.
