Level of Contact with Children: 2 (Sporadic or occasional contact with children)

The position holder shall be responsible to adhere & work within the ambit of Plan India’s Safeguarding Policy & Gender Equality Policy.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Project AQRITI is an education-focused initiative aimed at strengthening STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning environments in schools by upgrading infrastructure, enhancing teaching methodologies, and fostering practical, hands-on learning. The project will establish well-equipped STEM, Computer, and Science Labs in selected schools, enabling students to explore and apply scientific concepts effectively. By integrating modern learning tools, engaging pedagogy, and capacity-building for teachers, Project AQRITI seeks to create a robust platform for nurturing curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students, ultimately preparing them for future academic and career opportunities.
Goals: By March 2027, improve equitable access to quality and inclusive education in 18 government schools by creating safe, technology-enabled and gender-responsive learning environments that enhance STEM competencies, digital literacy, and overall academic outcomes—particularly empowering girls to thrive and succeed.

Objectives:
1. To Strengthen Quality and Experiential Learning Ecosystems in Schools
• Establish and strengthen STEM laboratories in 6 schools, including 3 new labs and 3 existing labs as Centers of Excellence.
• Establish or upgrade science laboratories in 3 schools (2 existing and 1 new) and continue Science Lab learnings in 11 schools to promote hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
• Set up fully equipped computer laboratories in 8 schools (ensuring at least 80% student access) and strengthen digital learning initiatives in 3 existing schools.

2. To build Capacity of teachers for Inclusive, Safe and Future-Ready Education
• Train at least 100 teachers in experiential, inclusive, and gender-responsive pedagogies to improve classroom engagement and learning outcomes.
• Promote safe and supportive learning environments by building awareness on legal literacy, child protection, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and digital safety among students, teachers, and school stakeholders.

3. To Strengthen School Systems, Infrastructure, and Community Engagement
• Upgrade Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in three schools to ensure safe, hygienic, and gender-sensitive facilities, complemented by orientation sessions on hygiene awareness and proper usage of WASH facilities.
• Strengthen community engagement and accountability by facilitating active participation of School Management Committees (SMCs), parents, and key stakeholders across 18 schools to ensure sustainability and ownership.

Position Overview
The STEM Master Trainer will lead the design, implementation, and quality assurance of STEM and science education across project locations. The role involves delivering advanced, experiential STEM and lab based science sessions while mentoring STEM Trainers, strengthening school systems, and ensuring effective utilization of STEM laboratories. The Master Trainer will act as a technical expert, driving innovation, standardization, and sustainability of STEM learning within the project in 18 government schools.

The STEM Master Trainer will play a pivotal role in leading overall planning and execution of Stem activities across all 18 schools as per UP board Stem curriculum. Ensuring quality assurance and delivery of structured sessions in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The Master trainer will lead mentor and guide stem trainers on hands-on learning using tools such as experiments, robotics kits, and model-building activities to enhance conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills. Lead development of SOPs and other stem learning material. Guidelines for uniform maintenance and upkeep of the stem labs. The overall reporting, monitoring and coordination with school principals /school teachers and project lead will be responsibility of the master trainer.

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Programme Leadership and Quality Assurance:
Lead the overall planning and execution of STEM activities across all project schools and labs, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with project objectives.
2. Advanced Session Delivery:
Conduct high-quality demonstration sessions using experiential methods such as experiments, robotics, coding, and model building to set benchmarks for STEM Trainers.
3. Capacity Building of Trainers:
Train, mentor, and regularly support STEM Trainers through on-site visits, refresher trainings, and performance reviews to enhance their technical and facilitation skills.
4. Curriculum Development and Adaptation:
Contribute to the development, contextualization, and continuous improvement of STEM curriculum, modules, and training materials.
5. STEM Lab Strengthening and Oversight:
Ensure overall optimal utilization, maintenance, and standardization of STEM labs, including equipment usage protocols, safety measures, and inventory management.
6. Technical Guidance Across Schools:
Provide technical leadership for strengthening hands-on science learning in all 18 project schools, including those without dedicated STEM labs.
7. Student Innovation and Exposure visits:
Guide and support student-led innovation projects, exhibitions, and participation in science fairs, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills. Exploring opportunities and completing online applications to facilitate student participation. Planning and organizing exposure visits to industries, science centres, and other relevant institutions.
8. Teacher Engagement and Capacity Building:
Build the capacity of school teachers to integrate experiential STEM methodologies into classroom teaching through structured trainings and ongoing support.
9. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
Develop monitoring tools, track learning outcomes, review trainer performance, and prepare high-quality reports, case studies, and documentation for internal and donor use.
10. Stakeholder Coordination:
Liaise with school authorities, government officials, and project partners to ensure smooth implementation and alignment with education priorities and designing stem curriculam in consultation with school/district authorities including approvals. Ensuring stem is included in daily school time table.
11. Inclusivity and Gender Sensitivity:
Ensure equal participation of girls and boys in STEM activities and create a safe, inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and confidence among all students.
12. Conduct Assessments and Reporting:
Administer pre- and post-assessment tests to evaluate students’ learning levels and progress. Prepare and submit detailed analysis reports highlighting outcomes and areas for improvement.
13. Organize Events and Competitions:
Plan, lead and coordinate Stem literacy campaigns, hands on competitions, and exhibitions to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
14. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Introduce new tools, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to strengthen STEM learning and keep the programme dynamic and future-ready.
15. Ensure Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
Overall responsibility of monitoring the functionality of Stem labs and peripherals, report technical issues promptly, and coordinate with technical support for timely maintenance.
16. Community & Parental Engagement:
Plan coordinate and ensure monthly parent engagement sessions to promote awareness and encourage participation in STEM learning. Strengthen community ownership of project interventions through stakeholder meetings, events, and structured feedback mechanisms.
17. Ensure Compliance with Organizational Policies:
Adhere to Plan India’s safeguarding, child protection, and data protection policies during all training activities.
18. Reporting:
Overall responsibility of supervising stem trainers and collecting data, preparing and submitting timely and accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on training sessions, student attendance, assessment outcomes, and overall progress. Maintain proper documentation and share updates, success stories, and data analysis.
19. Inclusivity and Safeguarding:
Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive participation in STEM activities, promoting equal opportunities for girls and boys while adhering to child safeguarding guidelines.
20. Perform Additional Duties:
Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Senior Manager or Management to support the successful implementation of the program.
21. Deployment Structure:
The Master STEM Trainer will oversee all 6 STEM Labs and provide technical leadership across 12 other schools under the project.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc.), Engineering (B.Tech./B.E.), Computer Applications (BCA), or a related STEM field.
• Candidates with a Master’s degree in relevant disciplines will be preferred.
• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in STEM education, training, or programme implementation.
• Proven experience in training of school teachers and trainers (ToT) and leading stem education programmes.
• Strong knowledge of experiential learning, robotics, coding, and STEM tools.
• Excellent facilitation, mentoring, and communication skills.
• Experience in working with schools, government systems, or development sector projects is preferred.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and analytical skills.
• Willingness to travel across 18 project locations in two districts.

Desirable:
• Prior experience working in Uttar Pradesh or similar rural/underserved geographies.
• Experience in working with government education departments and donor-funded programs.

Travel Requirement: Travel as per project requirement within Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar districts
