About the Project
Bonded labour continues to persist in Bihar, where communities—due to poverty, migration, dependence on informal labour, debt, and social factors—are vulnerable to situations of bonded labour. Jan Jagran Sansthan (JJS) is implementing an intervention to address bonded labour through community engagement and coordination with local systems in Nawada district and Jamui district.

Position: Field Investigator

Location: Nawada & Jamui Districts, Bihar

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct regular field visits in project villages
• Identify and investigate suspected bonded labour cases
• Collect and document case details through field inquiry
• Support field surveys and vulnerability mapping
• Engage with community groups, vigilance committees, and volunteers
• Assist in reporting and verification of cases with authorities
• Support government-led rescue operations
• Maintain proper documentation and reporting

Required Skills & Experience
• Should be open and willing to work extensively in field conditions
• Prior experience in bonded labour investigation / identification
• Experience in government-led rescue operations
• Good knowledge and understanding of bonded labour systems and indicators
• Experience in working with rural communities, field surveys, and community mobilization
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Additional Requirements
• Willingness to relocate to Nawada and Jamui districts of Bihar
• Must own a two-wheeler (bike) with a valid driving license
• Ability to travel regularly across villages and remote areas

Role Significance
The Field Investigator plays a critical role in identifying cases, building trust within communities, and ensuring that bonded labour cases are brought into the system for timely action and support.
