IHAT PURPOSE AND PRIORITIES
India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has been working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Bihar, to achieve public health goals. Our work focuses on areas of HIV and Tuberculosis prevention and control, aiming to achieve significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health, as well as enhanced nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthened health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with governments and communities. IHAT has recently received a grant to provide strategic support and technical assistance to the Government of UP (GoUP) for the introduction of two new contraceptive methods - subdermal single-rod implants and sub cutaneous injectable (DMPA-SC) in selected districts.
ROLE PURPOSE
The primary responsibility of this position will be to deliver strategic analytical support for effective implementation in improving the coverage of DMPA-SC. The objective is to identify programmatic gaps and strengthen implementation of intervention, track the performance and provide programmatic inputs, design and monitor the project outcomes. The position will work closely with the government counterparts and program teams of IHAT to improve family planning outcome in Uttar Pradesh, India.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze routine programme monitoring data utilizing available sources like HMIS, e-kavach, FPLMIS or any other data to track progress of DMPA-SC and FP program
- Prepare factsheets or dashboard monthly for a quick update and data reference
- Perform routine data quality assessments and ensure the reliability of routine programme monitoring data.
- Develop M&E framework for effective program implementation and tracking.
- Undertake program-specific analyses to identify gaps and provide actionable feedback to guide program strategies and course correction.
- Support survey-based data collection activities- sampling, data collection, preparation of data collection tools, protocols, manuals, guidelines etc. for program evaluation
- Provide analytical support to the state government for joint program reviews and progress assessment.
- Carry out additional M&E related tasks assigned by the reporting officer.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
- Master’s from a reputed institute in Public Health (MPH) / Statistics/ Demography/ Epidemiology/ Social Sciences/ or related field
- Ph.D Degree from a reputed institute in relevant subjects preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Family Planning / RMNCH+A / MNCH / Public Health programs
- 3 years of specific working experience in Monitoring and Evaluation preferred
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES
Technical Expertise
- Understanding of family planning program at national and state level
- Familiarity with data platforms like HMIS, FPLMIS, BCPM-MIS
- Knowledge of using excel, google sheets and powerpoints
- Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis using STATA, SPSS, R or other statistical software, projection packages, and GIS packages
- Knowledge of survey design and research methodologies
Conceptual and Analytical Skills
- Proven ability to conceptualize, analyze, innovate, plan, and execute strategies.
- Experience in participating in planning processes and developing analytical reports
Communication Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation and report writing capabilities
