MFV is a not-for-profit organisation registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act (1950), established in 2000 to eradicate avoidable blindness through the enablement of high quality, comprehensive and equitable eye health care.
Poverty is a cause and effect of visual and other disabilities that in-turn increase social divide. Eradicating blindness, 70% of which is avoidable, will enhance productivity, significantly impact on GDP and promote social and economic equity among nations. Among the largest NGOs engaged in eye health care, MFV has helped establish and strengthen several centres, enabling them to grow into world class centres providing comprehensive eye health care and also engaged in high quality training and research. All these organisations are able to address the key blinding conditions that affect the world, especially cataract, glaucoma, child eye health, corneal conditions, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders, etc.
Currently, MFV collaborates with 27 leading eye care organizations to serve communities across more than 210 districts in 24 states & union territories of India. In the fiscal year 2024-25, MFV facilitated direct eye services for over 1,768,750 individuals, with more than 298,502 of them receiving free surgeries, primarily for cataracts.

Job Profile overview
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for end-to-end planning, coordination, and supervision of eye screening activities across schools and community outreach camps in Mumbai. The role requires strong coordination with government departments, schools, hospitals, vendors, and field teams to ensure quality implementation, timely reporting, follow-up management, and achievement of programme targets.
Expectations from the Role
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all eye screening project activities for schools and adult community camps, ensuring smooth and timely execution in line with project goals.
- Obtain permissions from health departments, education departments, and relevant government authorities for school-based and adult screening camps.
- Liaise with stakeholders including local community leaders, NGOs, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers to strengthen community mobilisation and participation.
- Coordinate with schools, partner hospitals, and government authorities to ensure effective project implementation and sustained stakeholder engagement.
- Develop, share, and monitor camp schedules, ensuring all activities are executed on time and according to plan.
- Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to optometrists and health workers, ensuring adherence to project protocols and quality standards.
- Monitor project targets, timelines, and key performance indicators (KPIs) on a regular basis; initiate corrective actions where required.
- Ensure quality control and strict adherence to clinical and operational project protocols across all programme activities.
- Manage project documentation, data submission, and reporting — maintaining accurate records and preparing timely progress reports for donors and MFV management.
- Track referrals, spectacle delivery, compliance, and follow-up outcomes to ensure continuity of care for all beneficiaries.
- Plan, arrange, and manage all materials required for camps including vision charts, trial sets, frames, medicines, and IEC materials; coordinate timely procurement with internal teams and vendors while monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages.
- Coordinate with spectacle vendors for timely ordering and delivery; address issues such as incorrect prescriptions, damaged frames, or delays promptly.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor programme activities, provide on-site guidance, and ensure quality implementation.
- Organise training and capacity-building sessions for project staff to strengthen skills and ensure protocol compliance.
- Ensure pre-camp awareness activities including announcements, IEC material distribution, and parent communication are completed before each camp.
- Monitor and manage stock of spectacles and consumables to avoid shortages or delays during field activities.
- Address operational challenges proactively and implement corrective actions to minimise disruption to project delivery.
- Supervise and support community health workers (CHWs) in biomedical waste management at all camp sites, ensuring safe handling, segregation, and disposal as per guidelines; coordinate with the nearest PHC for compliance.
- Ensure full compliance with MFV's organisational policies, safeguarding standards, and child protection protocols.
- Support and oversee the use of digital data entry and reporting systems to ensure accurate, timely data management
Eligibility Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health / Social Work / Health Administration / Life Sciences or related field. Master’s degree preferred
- 3 - 4 years of experience in public health, NGO programme implementation, or community outreach projects.
- Proven experience in coordinating with government departments, NGOs, and community-level health workers
- Fluency in Hindi & Marathi; working knowledge of English
- Willingness to travel extensively across Mumbai and the MMR region for school screenings, community camps, field visits, and stakeholder meetings.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email communication; data documentation, validation, and reporting are core expectations of this role.
