Compensation: ?30,000/month (Taxes as applicable)

Background
Barefoot College Tilonia, officially known as the Social Work and Research Centre (SWRC), is a grassroots organization founded in 1972 on Gandhian principles. It empowers rural communities by harnessing traditional knowledge and demystified modern skills. Over the years, the College has impacted areas like water, education, solar energy, health, rural livelihoods, women’s empowerment, and sustainability.

The organization works with marginalized and rural communities, encouraging self-reliance and collective development. Through community-led initiatives, Barefoot College has helped people rise out of poverty with dignity and resilience.

Job Purpose
The Programme Manager will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of Barefoot College’s waste management initiatives. A key focus will be on managing Barefoot’s Zero Waste Village Model and expanding it to other areas. The manager will oversee daily departmental activities and collaborate with partners under the ‘SAMPADA’ network for replication in other states.

Roles & Responsibilities
? Plan and implement strategies for waste segregation and treatment at source, monthly household contributions, and collaboration with local governance.
? Develop waste management education modules for students in government schools.
? Conduct awareness sessions for community members and Students.
? Document project progress via photos, videos, reports, and case studies for social media and donors.
? Maintain financial records and support donor reporting (monthly, quarterly).
? Contribute to proposal writing and strategic project planning.
? Support project scaling efforts in collaboration with government departments.
? Help enhance the WASH curriculum and integrate it with other programmes.
? Participate in risk analysis and contingency planning.
? Support partner implementation through coordination and training.
? Maintain organized records of project expenses, bills, and vouchers.
? Design and oversee M&E frameworks, data collection, and impact assessments.
? Prepare project reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
? Conduct research to pilot and incorporate new waste recycling techniques into the program.
? Represent Barefoot College in external forums, conferences, and workshops.

Preferred Qualifications & Commensurate
? Master’s in Social Sciences, MSW or related fields.
? 2–3 years of experience in waste management project implementation (rural experience preferred).
? Strong communication skills in Hindi and English.
? Knowledge of Nepali language will be considered an asset.
? Proficiency in MS Tools and Canva.
? Strong writing and documentation abilities.
? Project and team management experience.
? Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
? Analytical, problem-solving, and budgeting skills.
? Empathetic and committed to working in the development sector.
