Position Summary
Sparsha Charitable Trust is seeking a Manager – Fundraising & Donor Relations to lead our fundraising and donor management efforts and help us significantly scale our annual budget, enabling more children and families in Mumbai’s marginalized communities to access education, health and life skills
The selected candidate will lead Sparsha’s fundraising strategy by identifying funding opportunities, building strong donor relationships, creating compelling communication materials, and ensuring timely reporting and compliance.
The role requires a proactive, relationship-oriented professional who can combine strategy, storytelling, and execution to help Sparsha achieve its annual fundraising goals.
Our expectation is the selected candidate will spend approx. 60% on fundraising and donor management, 20% on communications and 20% on reporting and coordination
Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising Strategy & Execution
- Take the lead in developing and implementing annual fundraising plans, with guidance from the CEO
- Achieve individual fundraising targets aligned with organizational goals.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities from CSR, foundations, HNIs, and individual donors
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns across online and offline channels.
- Monitor performance of campaigns and optimize based on data insights.
2. Donor Prospecting & Relationship Management
- Conduct research to identify potential funders and map connections.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects.
- Schedule and attend donor meetings; prepare customized pitch decks and proposals.
- Effectively manage donor relationships to ensure long term partnerships and commitments to Sparsha’s objectives
- Coordinate corporate employee engagement visits and donor field visits.
3. Proposal Writing & Communication
- Draft high-quality proposals, concept notes, grant applications, and budgets (in coordination with programs/finance).
- Prepare donor reports (monthly/quarterly/annual) as per commitment.
- Develop fundraising collaterals including: Pitch decks, Impactful proposals, Case studies, Impact stories and Newsletters
- Manage social media and digital communications aligned with fundraising needs.
- Coordinate with designers/vendors when required.
4. Donor Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate donor database and segmentation.
- Track fundraising progress against targets.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly fundraising reports for leadership.
- Document meeting notes, action points, and follow-ups.
- Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements and organizational policies.
5. Collaboration & Internal Coordination
- Work closely with Program and Finance teams to align proposals with program needs.
- Ensure clarity on reporting timelines and utilization of funds.
- Support internal documentation required for due diligence and contract processes.
- Assist in training or guiding interns/volunteers supporting fundraising.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Annual fundraising target achieved (% achievement).
- Target would be to raise an additional INR 1.5-2.5 crores annually over next 1-2 years
- Number of new donors onboarded
- Donor retention rate
- Number of proposals submitted & success rate
- Timely submission of donor reports
- Quality of communication materials
- Accuracy and maintenance of donor database
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
- 5-10 years of experience, with minimum 3 years in fundraising, business development, donor management or CSR Hunter mentality
- Strong proposal writing and communication skills, including presenting to senior corporate leaders and boards
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
- Strong organizational and documentation ability
- Proficiency in Canva, Google Workspace, MS PowerPoint, and social media platforms
