JOB DESCRIPTION

Introduction: Anubhuti Charitable Trust is a registered organization based in Thane District, Maharashtra. Working primarily with Nomadic & Denotified Tribe & Adivasi youth and women for their overall social, economic, and leadership development. Anubhuti’s vision is for a just, equitable and democratic society. The organisation has reached above 8.5 lakh people through programs on youth leadership, community development, mental health, sexual & reproductive health and civil rights among others.

All work at Anubhuti is underlined by values of feminism, anti-casteism and the Indian Constitution.

Our mission is to develop leadership of grassroot youth so they can lead social change for themselves, their communities and larger society.

This work is done through 3 overlapping programs:

Youth Leadership: Developing life skills, leadership, gender sensitivity, knowledge about social change, sense of responsibility, and mentoring actual change led by youth.

Stakeholder Sensitization: Trainings with stakeholders closely linked to youth such as parents, families, teachers, health workers, police, women's SHGs, Yuva Mandals, public administration, and elected leaders to sensitize them to their role in upholding people’s rights and democracy.

Awareness: Conferences with officials / elected members of local and state-level government, awareness campaigns through street plays, rallies, cultural programs, exhibitions, etc. to increase public responsibility and democratic participation.

About the projects and job requirements:

The Community Development Program is through Community Centres in rural and urban areas, led by the initiative of local youth, women and in collaboration with stakeholders. This includes intervention in any issue as identified by the community’s members - gender justice, civic issues, health, safety, combating social and personal violence.

We are looking for a motivated, result-oriented individual who likes working with youth, believes in grassroot-led change, is passionate about rights and justice. Experience in community work, organizing, working with stakeholders, handling clients, documentation, and strong work ethics will help.

Responsibilities (Social Worker):

1. Mobilization and networking with communities and stakeholders with the objective to organize people and stakeholders around social issues.
2. Organize legal, conceptual, skill-based training and awareness activities at community and institution levels.
3. Collectivise youth groups for community interventions, social action.
4. Handling clients of education drop-out & career issues, domestic violence, child marriage, mental health and other related issues.
5. Networking and building relationships with colleges, schools, other CBOs/NGOs, stakeholders, local administration, elected leaders.
6. Participating in research.
7. Visual, narrative and financial documentation.

The Social Worker will report to the Director and/or Administration In-charge and will work as part of a team with community organizers and other social workers, while handling individual responsibilities.

Based on performance and commitment, there will be opportunities to represent the organisation at local, state and national campaigns and attend trainings. This job will give experience in diverse areas of social work such as community organizing, counselling, legal aid, networking, collaborating with government, monitoring & evaluation, fundraising, program designing and research with urban, rural and tribal populations. A passion to work with commitment for the leadership and justice of most vulnerable populations will be highly preferable.

Eligibility Criteria:

Social Worker: DSW/ BSW / MSW / Graduate or Post Graduate in similar field
Women candidates only
Candidates from Nomadic, Adivasi, Dalit backgrounds preferable
Sensitive to issues of gender, caste, class, religious and other discriminations
Fluency in Marathi and Hindi, basic knowledge of English
Commitment to values of democracy, equality and anti-discrimination

Remuneration: As per education and experience.
