Job Opening: Block Coordinator - Female (Disaster Preparedness)
Location: Nagrota Surian (Kangra)

Position Summary:
The Block Coordinator will lead the implementation of community-based disaster preparedness activities in Nagrota Suriyan Block. The role includes community mobilization, coordination with Panchayats and government departments, organizing trainings and awareness programmes, supporting village disaster preparedness planning, and ensuring timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and implement all project activities at the block and village levels in accordance with the project work plan.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), government departments, schools, community leaders, and local institutions.
• Facilitate Participatory Rural Risk Assessments (PRRA), hazard mapping, and preparation of Village Disaster Preparedness Plans.
• Support the formation and strengthening of Disaster Monitoring Committees (DMCs) and community first responder groups.
• Organize and facilitate community meetings, awareness campaigns, school sessions, workshops, exposure visits, and capacity-building programmes.
• Mobilize women, youth, and vulnerable groups to ensure their active participation in disaster preparedness initiatives.
• Supervise and provide technical guidance to Community Mobilisers working in the block.
• Maintain project documentation, beneficiary records, meeting minutes, photographs, case studies, and success stories.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports and submit them to the Project Coordinator.
• Coordinate with district authorities, DDMA, Fire Services, NDRF, and other stakeholders for project activities whenever required.
• Perform any other project-related responsibilities assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Social Work, Rural Development, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Disaster Management, Geography, or a related field will be preferred.
Experience
• 1–3 years of experience in community development, disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate resilience, rural development, or livelihood programmes.
• Experience working with Panchayats, government departments, NGOs, and community institutions is desirable.
• Prior field experience in Himachal Pradesh will be an added advantage.
