Background
JSI R&T India Foundation (JSI Foundation) is a not-for-profit organization, registered in 2014 under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013. The mission of the JSI Foundation is to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable communities through innovative, evidence informed and replicable strategies in partnership with government, private sector and civil society. JSI Foundation works closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Women and Child Development, as well as state counterparts, leading CSR companies, and Global Fund to implement context specific and comprehensive public health programs in India.
 
Project Overview
Project TUSHTI is a community-based nutrition initiative implemented by JSI R&T India Foundation in partnership with the Government of Gujarat and CSR partner Nayara Energy. Building on its success in Devbhumi Dwarka, Project TUSHTI is being expanded to Porbandar, Gir Somnath and Amreli districts to strengthen maternal and child nutrition outcomes, reduce malnutrition, and build Suposhit Panchayats through convergence, behaviour change communication and service strengthening. TUSHTI focuses on target groups such as Children aged 0-59 months for Preventive, Promotive and Curative activities for reducing undernutrition, as well as on adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers for preventive and promotive activities for improved nutrition practices and health seeking behaviour. 
 
Project Tushti works as a technical and catalytic partner to WCD-ICDS, facilitating evidence-based planning, strengthening data quality and utilization, supporting dissemination of key nutrition messages, and documenting learnings and innovations for wider visibility and scale-up. The project aims to contribute to sustainable improvements in nutrition indicators through strengthened systems, community engagement, and enhanced program effectiveness.
 
Job Summary
The Regional Coordinator will primarily support the Women & Child Development (WCD)-ICDS Department at the regional level by working closely with the Regional Deputy Director (RDD) and district teams as a facilitator and catalyst for strengthening nutrition program implementation. The position will provide need-based support in monitoring, review, analysis, documentation, reporting, and other programmatic requirements of the department.
 
In addition, the Regional Coordinator will support Project Tushti in implementing non-budgetary interventions such as Poshan Tracker data validation, performance analysis, need based documentation
(best practices, success stories, analytical reports, research paper etc.), dissemination of IEC materials, and activities that enhance project visibility. The position will be responsible for preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly reports to the Project Tushti team while fostering effective coordination between government stakeholders and the project.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
1. For Department (WCD-ICDS)
  • Support the Regional Deputy Director (RDD), ICDS and district officials in monitoring and review of nutrition program performance.
  • Provide analytical inputs and evidence-based insights to support program planning and decision-making.
  • Support compilation and presentation of regional progress, achievements, and challenges.
  • Assist in organizing review meetings, field visits, and other departmental activities as required.  
  • Provide need-based support to the RDD and district teams for reporting, documentation, and program reviews.
2. For Project Tushti
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and need-based reports to the Project Tushti team.
  • Conduct regional performance analysis and identify best practices, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support in documenting success stories, case studies, innovations, and key learnings from the field.
  • Support dissemination and utilization of IEC/BCC materials across the assigned region.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and visibility initiatives to showcase project achievements and impact.
  • Support monitoring, analysis, research, and other interventions undertaken by Project Tushti.
  • Perform any additional project-related assignments as required by the Project Tushti team.
  • Field Visits will be undertaken as per the requirements of the Department and Project. 
Qualifications and Skills
JSI Foundation seeks a results-oriented individual with the ability to produce high quality deliverables, manage multiple concurrent tasks, meet tight deadlines and pay close attention to detail.
 
The successful candidate is required to have: 
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Health Nutrition/MSW/MA Sociology and Health Management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in health/nutrition or development programs, with regional-level experience. 
  • Strong experience working with government systems (ICDS, Health Department, NHM).
  • Excellent leadership, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in documentation, reporting, MS Office and data review.
  • Fluency in English, Gujarati and Hindi.

  • Selected candidate will be expected to be based at the assigned region headquarter at their own cost.
