About the Position:
The responsibilities of the Coordinator of Biodiversity Restoration include:
• helping to manage growing team(s) in the field to implement the organization’s flagship FB/PB projects in Chhattisgarh (CG). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing field team(s) in CG, residing at and traveling to project sites in CG, building community relations, coordinating with existing and potential collaborators and subject matter experts, assisting in and helping to manage project implementation, measuring and reporting on various types of variables, preparing reports, writing articles, and collaborating with various types of field staff at implementation sites.
• helping to develop methodologies and project/education plans. This includes, but is not limited to, developing novel and quantifiable metrics and detailed plans for implementing FB/PB projects, which encompass activities spanning water management, biodiversity restoration, community mobilization, innovating regenerative technologies, health, and gender equity.
• establishing and expanding the Sramani Institute’s Khadgawan, CG, field office and other CG field offices, including helping to hire, train, and manage staff at the field office(s) and in the field.
• reporting on project implementation, including preparing detailed proposals, reports, support documentation, audiovisual documentation, and any other type of relevant documentation.
• helping to raise funds for the various projects of the Sramani Institute.

Candidate Requirements:
• Demonstrated ability in innovation, out-of-the-box creative thinking, and taking initiative
• Excellent speaking, writing, and reading skills in English, a non-negotiable requirement
• Professional speaking, writing, and reading skills in Hindi
• Master’s or Ph.D. degree
• 5-7 years of relevant grassroots work experience after obtaining Master’s/Ph.D. degree
• At least one of Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree must be in ecological sciences, systems biology, climate science, geology, or biochemistry
• Work experience and/or education in one or more of agroecology, biodiversity preservation, regenerative innovations, natural resource management
• Demonstrated interest in working with impoverished, marginalized communities in rural areas
• Ability to understand systems biology and human-ecological interconnectivity
• Ability to effectively design and implement novel metrics and statistical measures (of outcomes, impact, physical parameters, social parameters, etc.)
• Ability to effectively communicate and work with individuals of any educational and socioeconomic background
• Professional proficiency in using Excel, word, and other computer software
• Ability to travel alone via train, bus, or other vehicle and stay overnight in rural areas
• Has a working laptop with word processing software, internet access, and video capability
• Has a working phone capable of video calling and video recording
• Has a two-wheeler sufficiently sturdy to travel 60-100 km roundtrip to field site(s), according to a standard institutional travel reimbursement policy

Hiring for this position will follow a 3-step process:

2. STEP 2. If you are selected for a first interview, this first interview will be conducted over zoom (video enabled), and you will be tested in real time for: (a) your fluency in speaking English, (b) your fluency in writing English, and (c) your ability to grasp novel concepts and generate novel (quantitative) solutions. A follow-up video interview may be scheduled.

3. STEP 3. If the Sramani Institute decides to make you an offer of employment, your references will be checked prior to such an offer being made.
