Role Overview
The Optometrist will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, and managing patients’ eye health, including vision problems and ocular diseases. The role involves prescribing corrective lenses, providing pre- and post-operative eye care, and working closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct detailed eye examinations using specialized equipment to assess vision and detect eye disorders.
• Diagnose vision problems such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, or low-vision aids to correct visual impairments.
• Detect and manage ocular conditions like glaucoma, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries.
• Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of visual aids.
• Maintain accurate patient records and prepare reports.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare providers for referral and treatment.
• Stay updated on advancements in optometry and eye care technology.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry from a recognized institution.
• Valid registration/license with the relevant medical/optometry council.
• Proven clinical experience in optometry or eye care (preferably in a hospital/clinic setting).
• Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate and patient-cantered approach to care.

Skills
• Proficiency in using optometric equipment (slit lamp, autorefractor, tonometer, etc.).
• Ability to handle paediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and basic therapeutics.
• Team player with strong problem-solving ability.

Working Conditions
• Full-time position.
• Work primarily in eye vision centres.
• May involve outreach camps or community eye health programs.
