POSITION PURPOSE:
This project seeks to address the increasing prevalence of NCDs, Vision Care, Optometry Services, and HIV Testing by implementing targeted Outreach interventions and tailored lifestyle modification programs, specifically designed to meet the unique needs and working conditions of truck drivers.
This project aims to deliver sustainable, community-centered healthcare integrating Health check-up, regular health screenings, and targeted education programs to address the root causes of chronic conditions and promote long-term well-being of trucker’s communities. These interventions will be deployed at key transport hubs in specified geographies, offering free/subsidized health check-ups and outdoor patient services where they are needed most.
An experienced professional Doctor working as general physician in the community is required. S/he should be willing to provide his services in the community and will be responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical care, managing lifestyle diseases.
The primary objective of this role is to mitigate the unique health risks faced by long-haul truck drivers—such as chronic sleep deprivation, metabolic diseases, and high-risk behavioral patterns— while ensuring overall public safety on the highways.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The position will be based at the truckers’ halt point in Ahmedabad.
• Provide primary care consultations for common acute illnesses (e.g., respiratory infections, gastrointestinal issues).
• Conduct routine occupational health checkups including visual acuity, field of vision, and hearing tests.
• Proper physical examination, adequate history, taking(Present history and sexual history) Of clients
• Administered syndrome treatment according to the nacho guidelines for STI Treatment
• Ensure confidentiality in all cases, provide accurate and relevant information in a nonjudgmental manner, refer the person for specialized Intervention
• Perform routine screening for ergonomics-related issues, chronic back pain, and musculoskeletal disorders
• Screen, diagnose, and monitor lifestyle diseases prevalent among truckers, including hypertension, obesity, and Type 2 diabetes.
• Run targeted awareness and screening programs for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS at major transit sites.
• Identify and counsel regarding indicators of substance abuse, alcohol dependency, or dependence on driving stimulants
• Lead community health camps and operate in the satellite clinics.
• Any other task assigned by the Clinic In charge
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum MBBS Graduate with at least 5-8 years of experience as General Physician in the community preferable retired persons.
SKILLS:
• Eagerness to learn.
• Leadership ability, including the capacity to set and manage accountability of self and others.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing in English and Hindi and to make effective presentations to the communication team.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively in rural /urban areas
