Position: District Project Officer – Purulia, Kolkata Position: 2 Based location: Purulia and Sundarbans
1. About DITO-SWA
DITO Social Welfare Association (DITO-SWA) is a Section 8 not-for-profit organisation working towards the empowerment of disadvantaged communities and sustainable rural development. DITO-SWA works across Howrah, Bankura, South 24 Parganas and Kolkata, with programmes focusing on livelihoods, women’s empowerment, education, school transformation, health, WASH and community development.
DITO-SWA is expanding its development interventions in Purulia and the Sundarbans, with a focus on sustainable livelihoods, women’s economic empowerment, education, school transformation, WASH and community-led development.
2. Job Purpose
The District Project Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring DITO-SWA’s projects at the district and field level. The position will actively engaged in:
- Liaisoning with respective Government departments.
- Conduct meetings with different stakeholders on health, nutrition and livelihood programs with women and children as target beneficiary.
- Identification of need based areas with respect to health, nutrition and livelihood and reporting to office.
- Identify and map active Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and assess their existing skills, resources, and livelihood interests. Provide need-based capacity-building and skill development training on locally viable livelihood options, including handicrafts, agriculture and allied activities, food processing, and enterprises based on locally available natural resources. Facilitate market linkage, enterprise development, and access to relevant government schemes to enable SHGs to establish sustainable and income-generating livelihood ventures.
- Liaison with Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers and conduct district level programs on health, nutrition with special emphasis on anaemia.
3. Key Responsibilities A. Project Implementation
- Coordinate day-to-day implementation of projects at the district level.
- Ensure timely completion of project activities as per the directives/plans given by the Program Manager.
- Conduct regular field visits and monitor project progress.
- Coordinate community meetings, trainings, workshops and awareness programmes.
- Support identification of beneficiaries and community institutions.
B. Government & Stakeholder Coordination
- Develop and maintain relationships with government departments, Panchayats, schools and other local stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Block and District-level officials for project implementation.
- Represent DITO-SWA in relevant meetings and community forums.
- Facilitate permissions, coordination and convergence with government programmes wherever required.
C. Data & Reporting
- Maintain project records, beneficiary data and field documentation.
- Monitor project indicators, outputs and outcomes.
- Collect, verify and analyse field-level data.
- Prepare monthly progress reports, case studies, success stories and presentations.
- Ensure proper documentation of project activities through photographs, attendance records and reports.
D. Team Coordination
- Identify and support field level community workers.
- Train and engage community workers as and when required.
- Identify implementation challenges and work with the community workers to develop practical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies and project requirements.
E. Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with community members and local institutions.
- Promote community participation and ownership of development initiatives.
- Support formation and strengthening of community groups, women’s groups, school committees and other local institutions.
F. Administration
- Support project logistics, procurement and event coordination. • Assist in maintaining project budgets and expenditure records.
- Ensure timely submission of activity plans, reports and supporting documents.
- Undertake other responsibilities assigned by the management.
4. Qualifications & Experience Essential:
- Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Development Studies, Public Health, Education, Management or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in development projects, preferably in rural or community-based Livelihood programmes.
- Experience working with communities, schools, government departments and local institutions.
- Experience in project coordination, field monitoring, data collection and reporting.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, electronic devices and app.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Bengali and English; knowledge of Hindi will be an advantage.
- •Willingness to travel extensively within the project districts.

6. Location Purulia District / Sundarbans, West Bengal
The position will require regular travel to project locations, villages, schools, Government departments at block and district and community institutions.
