Position: Public Health Specialist, AMR Program Management Unit
An international non-governmental organization seeking highly motivated Senior Program Officer at New Delhi.
The Public Health Specialist will support implementation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement for the AMR Program Management Unit (PMU) anchored at CBDDR, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The position will support NAP implementation under the guidance of NCDC/CBDDR, drive State Action Plan for Containment of AMR (SAPCAR) development, support antimicrobial stewardship rollout, and support field-testing and documentation of an AMR technology innovation, in close coordination with NCDC, state health departments, and the organization’s country office team.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Support NCDC/CBDDR in operationalizing NAP-AMR 2.0 through the PMU, aligning activities with national priorities and the National AMR Action Plan.
• Support NCDC/CBDDR on state-level facilitation for SAPCAR development including stakeholder mapping, background documentation, and multi-sectoral drafting workshops.
• Compile and synthesize inputs from national and state-level convenings for NCDC/CBDDR for information and reporting
• Support baseline assessments and the formation or strengthening of hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and HAICC committees in states
• Coordinate development of facility-specific antibiograms, empiric treatment guidelines, and stewardship interventions with the state-level microbiologist/AMS coordinator.
• Support introduction of simple digital tools for tracking antibiotic consumption and stewardship indicators under NCDC’s guidance
• Support development of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and AMS training materials under NCDC's guidance.
• Organize and coordinate trainings for healthcare workers and laboratory staff on IPC, AMS, and surveillance methods.
• Support coordination with India AMR Innovation Hub and demonstration facilities for field-testing AMR technology under NCDC/CBDDR’s guidance
• Support documentation of the learnings from the implementation process for policy briefs and scale up of successes.
• Serve as liaison between NCDC/CBDDR, and state teams for work planning and activity tracking.
• Maintain accurate documentation of milestones (SAPCAR adoption, stewardship indicators, technology pilot outcomes) for government and donor reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned by NCDC/CBDDR leadership and supervisor.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in medicine (MBBS) or dental surgery (BDS).
Preferred: MD in Community Medicine or a Master's in Public Health (MPH).
Experience
Required: 3 to 5 years of experience in public health programs, government health systems, or project coordination.
Preferred: Experience in AMR, infectious disease control, or state-level policy/action plan development.
